Manufacturing/Processing engineer is the one to support product line of compressor-based chillers, liquid-to-liquid and ambient cooling systems; products primarily used in the semi-conductor and medical equipment markets. This individual must be a highly motivated self-starter with exceptional communication skills and a strong mechanical aptitude.

   Responsibilities include:

1.   Managing pilot production runs by balancing new product on the assembly line, creating assembly step outlines, and establishing build tact times in order to generate on-line CAD assembly documentation.
2. Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the build process, identifies inventory point of use capabilities, develops training documentation and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
3. Development and maintenance of assembly documentation and initiation and resolution of Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s).
4. Leading teams for lean manufacturing initiatives such as value stream process mapping and Kaizen events.
5. Participating in process improvement initiatives and cost reduction efforts on existing product.
6. Participating in root cause analysis as part of cross functional 8D problem solving teams
7. Supporting the supply chain team by assisting in supplier qualifications, quality initiatives, and failure investigations.
8. Regularly interfacing with customers to communicate process improvements, change requests, and provide leadership and support during root cause investigations.
9. Specification of tooling, work holding fixtures and test equipment for new and existing products.
10. Conducting frequent assembly line audits looking for design issues and training effectiveness with a “stop and fix” attitude.
11. Providing Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, and Service input as part of cross functional new product development teams.
12. Working with design and project engineering on the development of user friendly test fixtures and test procedures for use in system and sub-component testing.
13. Troubleshooting of electro-mechanical and control systems in support of the production line.

Your experience should include:

1. Torch Brazing and soldering skill (copper to copper, stainless to stainless, and stainless to copper)
2. Understand difference between various sealants for threaded joints
3. Refrigeration circuits and industrial process plumbing
4. Mechanical background for sheet metal design and fabrication techniques
5. Electrical wiring and mechanical assemblies
6. Electrical and control systems including PLC and PID controllers is a plus

   Basic requirements:   

1）University degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and a minimum of 3 years in production / manufacturing engineering environment with direct experience in mechanical and electrical assembly.

2）The candidate must also have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as an active participant in a lean manufacturing environment.

3）Proficiency using software packages Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access are required. Good communication skill with English.

 4）Additional experience / skills in the following areas are preferred:

• MRP and ISO 9001  
• Metal fabrication and process plumbing
• Solidworks
• Boothroyd Dewhurst DFMA software or similar
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and experience applying Six Sigma tools in a manufacturing environment.
• EHS background

Out of country travel expected approximately 5-10% of time to support our Asia business as well as customer and supplier visits.

This role is based at Aavid Shanghai facility but will also support our Changzhou facility’s manufacturing before moving to Shanghai and product transitions from USA to China in future. You will be a member of a customer-focused, cross-functional systems manufacturing team interfacing with manufacturing supervision, technicians, planning, purchasing, engineering and supplier quality working to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products to meet customer expectations. In this role, you will support a culture of lean manufacturing with an emphasis on single piece flow. This position will report to the Systems Manufacturing Engineering Manager or site Operation Manager.
