The Position

  

 

  

Reporting to the Solution Execution Department Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for the execution of design & build projects worth 0.5 to 3 M USD, and until the end of warranty period.

  

 

  

His main responsibilities will comprise the following:

  

 

  

In general:

  

§  Manage contractual relations with client to ensure that both VWS and client obligations are met, payments received and variations paid for.

  

§  Manage internal project team: design, procurement, site supervision, commissioning and warranty.

  

§  Manage contractual relations with suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure timely delivery and plant performance.

  

§  Monitor contract risks (process, construction, client) and contingency plan.

  

§  Monitor closely project costs and payments, with the objective of improving contract profitability during execution.

  

§  Monitor closely project schedule to ensure timely completion.

  

§  Manage relations with local authorities if needed.

  

 

  

In particular:

  

§  Upon contract award, conduct full contract review and define project execution plan: team organization (design, procurement, site supervision, commissioning), planning, budget, risk analysis, partners and sub-contractors, etc.

  

§  Implement project QA/QC procedures, based on company’s main guidelines.

  

§  Monitor design progress and client’s approval. Manage design changes and negotiate variation orders with client.

  

§  Manage interface between design and procurement. Monitor shipping schedule.

  

§  Drive strong negotiations with equipment suppliers to improve contract profitability.

  

§  Negotiate fabrication and installation subcontracts (technical and commercial terms).

  

§  Manage site supervision team and sub-contractors. Implement QA/QC, Health & Safety procedures.

  

§  Manage testing & commissioning team and obtain Take Over Certificate from client.

  

§  Manage contract during Defects Liability Period until final payment received from client .

  

§  Prepare monthly project execution report to follow up cost control, payment and progress.

  

 

  

Depending on contract size, a Project Manager may be in charge of several projects concurrently.

  

 

  

Candidate profile

  

 

  

The candidate must have a bachelor degree in Water/wastewater treatment, chemical, mechanical, electrical or civil engineering, and min 3 years’ experience in similar position, i.e. project management of similar industrial installations (turnkey electro-mechanical systems) with a very hands-on technical approach.

  

                                                

  

He/she should also demonstrate the following qualifications:

  

 

  

§  Food & Beverage project background preferred

  

§  Self-motivated

  

§  Able to work under extreme pressure with difficult clients, requiring good communication skills.

  

§  Very good at cost control and able to improve profitability during contract execution.

  

§  Good communication with client and internal team member

  

§  Capable of working with tight schedule, requiring strong planning and programming skills as well as efficient management of suppliers and sub-contractors.

  

§  Good knowledge of contract terms.

  

§  Good team building capabilities

  

§  Strong personality

  

§  Good written and spoken English

  

§  Available to travel in China
