Main responsibilities：

• Conducting guided and independent research on transportation and logistics in the TDH lab and CIMC Freightloading lab (incl. collaboration with researchers in MIT Global SCALE Network)
• Publish in leading international journals
• Writing research proposals
• Meeting with project sponsors
• Support outreach activities
• Any other (incl. administrative) duties that may reasonably be assigned by the supervising faculty member

Qualifications:

• PhD in one of the following or related disciplines: Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Management Science & Engineering, Operations Research, Business Analytics, Operations Management
• Experience with analytical methods (especially deterministic and/or stochastic optimization and the development/implementation of algorithms
• In-depth knowledge and proven skills of academic and applied research in logistics, supply chain management, or related topics

Research Directions：

• (Intermodal) freight transportation
• Loading space optimization and loading process design
• Overall optimization of logistics systems (e.g., warehouse, trunk logistics, etc.)

Desirable：

• Experience with industry projects
• Experience with (intermodal) transportation and packaging problems
• Familiar with further analytical methods (e.g., simulation)
• Familiar with empirical methods (e.g., statistics, econometrics, and machine learning)

    宁创是在麻省理工学院运输与物流中心的指导下，采用国际化的模式独立运行的非营利性教育与科研机构，是麻省理工学院全球供应链与物流卓越网络成员之一。目前，该网络已在美国之外的中国、哥伦比亚、西班牙、卢森堡和马来西亚拥有五个中心。目前在欧洲、北美洲、拉丁美洲和亚洲拥有14个研究生项目和高管培训项目，90位供应链与物流专业的教师和研究伙伴，150家合作伙伴企业和组织，遍布全球的1000多位校友。

    The government of Ningbo, China, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology（MIT）to jointly establish the Ningbo China Institute for Supply Chain Innovation (NISCI), an exclusive education and research center in China focus on logistics and supply chain management in 2016. The mission of NISCI is to become an international center of excellence for research and education in logistics and supply chain management. Also, NISCI serves an important role in supporting Ningbo in its development of "World Class Port City" and "Made-in China 2025 Exemplary City".

    Under the guidance of MIT Transportation and Logistics Center, NISCI is a non-profit independent educational and research institution and is a member of the MIT Global Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence (SCALE). Currently, the network has five centers in China, Colombia, Spain, Luxembourg and Malaysia outside the United States. In addition, there are 14 graduate programs and executive training programs in Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia, 90 supply chain and logistics professional teachers and research partners, 150 partner companies and organizations, and more than 1,000 alumni around the world.

    Through the introduction of MIT's curriculum, teaching methods and evaluation system, NISCI established masters and executive education programs to cultivate elite talents for international supply chain management. The Institute also works closely with industry to establish a college industry alliance, enhance the global competitiveness of enterprises, and create a collaborative innovation system that integrates production and education.
