Responsibilities


Reporting to the Global Business Continuity & Crisis Management Lead, this position provides leadership, strategic direction and management of the Business Continuity Program (BCP) supporting Asia Pacific QVC markets and select business lines globally. This position is based in Japan and manages the Asia/Pacific BCP program.

 

The primary focus of this role under the direction of the Global Business Continuity & Crisis Management Lead is to manage the BC APAC program that identifies critical business processes, prioritizes the associated risk and develops plans and preparedness strategies to mitigate the risk to the business resulting in minimal operational disruptions.

 

The position works closely across the business and externally with key stakeholders to ensure that achievable business continuity, crisis management, and emergency management milestones are established, communicated, and achieved on time, and that adequate and properly skilled resources are applied, ensuring successful planning, training, testing, and actual execution of associated plans.


Business Continuity

·        The Business Continuity portion of this role includes supporting local business continuity role holders (business continuity owners and business continuity champions) in developing a robust Business Continuity capability, in accordance with the QRG BC Framework, that helps position the business to recover from a business interruption or disaster.

·        Works with the BC Champions and Owners to develop Business Impact Analyses, Recovery Strategies, and Business Continuity Plans. Schedule and facilitates training and testing activities.

·        Ensures local role holders are identified by senior leaders, understand their role, and have adequate training and exercising to fulfill their responsibilities.

·        Facilitates training, exercising, testing and awareness activities for stakeholders.

·        Works with local role holders (BC Owners and Champions) to identify gaps in the program and raises awareness to the Global BC/CM Team and local Senior Leadership and Global leadership of these gaps.


Crisis and Incident Management

·        The Crisis Management portion of this role includes deploying the Global Crisis and Incident Management Process in Asia Pacific and select business lines globally. Coordinates closely with the local incident/crisis teams to develop and maintain appropriate Incident Management, Crisis Management and other associated plans (Typhoon Plan, Earthquake Plan etc.).

·        Provides ongoing coordination, training, and exercising activities to support maintaining the capability to respond to an incident.

·        Supports the management of real events (incidents, crises etc.)24 X 7 by facilitating the activation of incident management and crisis management plans in coordination with appropriate Incident and Crisis Management Teams.

·        Works closely with Senior Leadership to engage them in the principles of incident and crisis management, maintaining awareness and ensuring a coordinated ability to respond.


Other

·        Global contributor to the development and implementation of Global BC/CM Programs as appropriate (BC Software, Pandemic Planning etc.)

Implements a BC/CM awareness program by educating employees, operational business teams and management on the responsibilities of BC/CM Awareness and their responsibilities. Supports maintenance on the intranet site.

 



Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree required.

·        Certification in Business Continuity, Emergency Management with an accredited institution (DRI, BCI etc.)

·         Effective people management and team leadership skills.

·        Strong written/verbal communication skills and computer skills (Excel, Access, Word, Visio).

·        Must be able to work off shift hours for incident response activities.

·        Strong working knowledge of BC, Crisis Management, and incident response procedures.

·        Exceptional understanding of BC and CM Standards as they apply to Asian Markets.

·        Experience in BC issues related Supply Chain, Retail or Broadcast a plus.

·        Minimum of 5+ years of experience and demonstrated success in positions of increasing responsibility within BC

·        The role will require the ability to travel globally to the United States or other markets as necessary.

·        This position requires being on-call at all times to ensure a timely response to any event.

·       Fluent in English and Mandarin (excellent conversational and written skills).

·        Excellent communication skills. Strong writing skills in English and Japanese.

·        Effective collaborative skills with various local and global partner teams.

·        Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

·        The ability to process rapid problem resolution, especially around a crisis or serious BC, health & safety, Loss Prevention or physical security incident.

·        Ability to work under stressful and tight deadlines as well as the ability to manage in a fast-paced environment.

·        Strong decision-making ability during both crisis and non-crisis situations.

·        Working knowledge of all areas of the organization and the ability to quickly develop a clear understanding of the company’s key functional processes and resources.

·        Interpersonal skills to influence a broad and diverse group of stakeholders across the corporation.

·        Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment and multi-task, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
