Position Title: Lab Technician  

  

Reports To: Technical Manager, Asia  

  

Group Division: Borchers

  

 

  

POSITION SUMMARY

  

 

  

Purpose

  

 

  

This position will support Asia technical service team, working in additives such as thickeners, flow& levelling, defoamers, dispersants, catalysts, and driers in formulations for coatings, inks, and adhesives markets. This position has the potential for career development to commercial facing Technical Service position in future.

  

 

  

Job Responsibilities:

  

 

  

• Laboratory testing of product performance characteristics in formulations and applications.

• Specific activities and tasks will vary with the business priorities, but general areas of responsibility will include:

    

1. Product property evaluation of color, viscosity, surface tension, foaminess, volatility, aging, stability, dry time.

2. Product performance testing in coatings, inks, and related areas for compatibility, dispersion, rheology, film properties, defoaming, defects, wetting and a multitude of other properties as the projects require.

3. Data management and reporting of results.

      

• Other responsibilities involve maintenance of various lab equipment, management of the laboratory space and all safety protocols.

• Other assigned work as requested by supervisor from time to time.

   

  Qualifications:

   

          

• Chemistry background with bachelor’s degree.

• Prior work experience in a laboratory more than 1 year is highly desirable, experience in the coating company is a plus.

• Candidate must have a good safety record and be capable of working with multiple projects and colleagues within the organization.

• Computer skills including MS Office, Excel, and data acquisition basics are required.

• English speaking and communication are a must

• Fast learning and good teamwork.
