JOB DESCRIPTION

- Support and Troubleshooting Users’ desktop, laptop on issues such as LAN, Office Wifi, Printer issue, etc.

- Respond to support tickets and escalations in a timely fashion

- Support and maintain local IT Infrastructure including computing and storage resources

- Provide support for the Research and Development Computing environment 

- Work with the global IT team to implement and maintain policies and procedures that are in support of corporate goals and initiatives

- Propose new and innovative solutions to improve customer satisfaction, reduce support cost and decrease complexity

- Assist the business to achieve and maintain ISO certifications

- Provide written documentation

- Occasionally perform off hour maintenance and support

- Research and assist with acquiring and purchasing of equipment locally as needed

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (approximately 23kg)

The technologies you’ll need a good level of understanding are:

   - Operating Systems: CentOS & RHEL Linux, and Windows   

   - Knowledge of Active Directory, OS Patching, and networking (IP, VLAN, basic network routing)

   - Server Virtualization: VMware & HyperV

   - Hardware: Dell and HP servers, Workstations and laptops

   - Storage: Various storage systems including EMC and Netapp

REQUIREMENTS

-  Education and certifications:   

    - Minimum 5 years previous experience   

    - Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience   

    - Relevant Microsoft Certification (i.e. MCSE, MCITP, MCM, MCA), a plus

-  Key Skills:

    - Excellent communications skills   

    - Excellent troubleshooting skills   

    - Knowledge and support of Linux/UNIX and Windows administration and related technologies   

    - Knowledge and support of storage technologies including EMC & Netapp

    - Knowledge and support of backup software, i.e. NetBackup, Carbonite, Cloud Backup, and tape libraries   

    - Good understanding of key network protocols and fundamentals  

    - Working knowledge of administration and monitoring tools and solutions   

    - Scripting skills a plus   

    - Passion for systems administration and open source technologies   

    - A structured and open approach to your work and a great eye for detail
