POSITION TITLE: Business Systems Analyst/Project Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Project Management Office
BUSINESS UNIT: Covidien China -Tailored Product Platform
REPORTS TO: Program Manager/PDP Manager
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of resource management systems within China Tailored Products Program Management Office, as well as providing analytical support on special project initiatives. Initially, this position will play a key role in the roll out of a new PD Ware system in Shanghai Covidien Technology Center. The analyst must have a thorough understanding of all local systems, including Enterprise project management and SharePoint features, capabilities and related usage scenarios that enable Portfolio, Project and Resource Management processes. The individual must be able to work cross-functionally to develop requirements and implement enhancements to local environments; as well as conduct thorough analysis of project data and generate detailed reports. Experience with development of Reporting Services, Excel Services or SharePoint/Project Server 2010 Workflows and Resource Management is highly desirable.
The Business Systems Analyst will work under the direction of the Program Manager or PDP Manager and will be part of the Project Management Office Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement and maintain local systems within China Tailored Products Program Management Office:
Work with cross-functional teams to roll out PD Ware system, Project Server / Enterprise, and other Portfolio, Project and Resource Management systems when applicable.
Develop requirements to enable additional functionality as business processes mature.
Work with project managers to ensure applications contain current project data and information.
Develop Training Materials and Conduct Training Classes associated with local PMO systems.
Provide End-User Support and Troubleshooting on applications when required.
Indentify and develop standard and customizable data reports and dashboards associated with PMO applications necessary to support customer needs.
Provide a leadership role in developing and maintaining configuration standards to help ensure governance is followed for change requests and enhancements
Provide analytical support on special project initiatives and ad hoc requests from management:
Perform detailed analysis of project information, identifying potential root causes of high variances when requested.
Create accurate summary reports, presentation slides and data tables necessary to support Management and various Project Decision Team Meetings.
Review historical project information and assist in the development of resource metrics and benchmarking data.
Provide back up support to PMO team, including:
Work with functional managers to update resource database as necessary.
Perform resource allocation analysis, identifying resource constraints, as well as resource availability for new project opportunities.
Coordinate project resource tracking on New Product Development Projects, generating forecast to actual variance reports.
Provide resource information support to Program Managers and Project Managers, as needed.
Support New Product Development Management personnel in the development of Fiscal Year and Long Range Strategic Resource Plans
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY:
Proficiency in MS Office Software (including Excel, Word, Power Point & Access)
Proficiency in MS Project Server / or other Enterprise Applications, including configuration
Proficiency in MS Project 2007 or 2010
Familiar with PD Ware system or other resource management tools
Possesses knowledge of SharePoint Architecture, Maintenance, and Monitoring
Strong Business Analysis skills, including the ability to thoroughly evaluate data, generate accurate reports and solve complex problems
Strong Customer Focus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
High level of attention to details, with utmost regards to generating quality documents
Ability to work independently / Self-directed
Excellent English in listening/speaking/reading/writing
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Project Management, Engineering, or other related field of study, or equivalent experience
Preferred: PMP Certification
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of Three (3) years of relevant work experience performing business analysis and system implementation
2+ years of experience utilizing or implementing Microsoft Project Server 2007 or other enterprise platforms
Demonstrated knowledge / proficiency utilizing Microsoft Project 2007 or 2010
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Minimal travel required with advance notice, less than 10%
