POSITION SUMMARY:

The manufacturing engineer will support the pellet compounding area. This support will include process, procedure, training and equipment utilization including design and implementation of jigs, fixtures, tools, and tooling for both the manufacturing and set-up areas. Knowledge in vacuum conveyors, blending, material drying, water baths, and pelletizers, are mandatory. This position will work closely with the material science lab and resin suppliers in development of new material blends.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manufacturing Support including:

· Run and monitor compounding system from base resins and regrind to blended compounds

· Troubleshooting--mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, computer

· Production Process Control

· Process Experimentation and Improvement

· Material handling of pallets, boxes and completed log rolls

· Set-Up Documentation & Procedures

· Process Documentation & Procedures

· Value Engineering--Cost/Benefit Analysis of Changes

· Design and implementation of tooling, fixturing, etc.

· Improvement of Cpk values through process improvement

· Scrap Reduction

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

· 5+ years Experience in plastic extrusion processes

· Engineering Degree--Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar with some CAD computer skills.

· A degree or experience in materials is beneficial

· Read, write, speak and understand English

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None

Lift 40 lbs.
