Objectives of the position:
1. The incumbent shall assist lab supervisor- Technical on the daily hand on laboratory works and other laboratory functions as required. To conduct the testing and evaluation on new samples evaluation and development.

2. This position will work on several different or specific assigned projects within a cross functional team while being introduced to various analytical and physical instruments, testing methods, specimen preparation techniques (pilot injection moulding testing ). The incumbent will have the opportunity to work and interact frequently with product development teams and plant technical staff, to assist them in completing their development project and testing in a timely manner and ensure that tests are done so according to specifications outlined in Quality Management System. The incumbent ensures the highest quality product meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with BASF Corporation policies and procedures.

Representative Main Tasks:
1. To ensure all environmental, health and safety rules and guidelines are being adhered to and maintain high safety standards and a safe working environment.
2. To support the implementation of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO TS 16949, ISO 17025, OSHAS 18001 and Process Safety Management by practicing them accordingly to ensure full compliance with the requirements as stipulated in the system.
3. To perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support product development project and customer sample
4. To plan and supervise preventive maintenance programs for laboratory machines and test equipment.
5. To perform routine verification on the laboratory equipments and maintain all laboratory equipment in good working condition.
6. To carry out routine tasks accurately and competent and follow strict methodologies to carry out analysis.
7. To continuously seek to improve on the current testing methods and processes.
8. To participate in projects on the improvement of the laboratory or process.
9. Lead 5S as sub section facilitator, to improve on safe and clean environment.
10. Laboratory operational work involving new experiments and sample preparation.
11. Competence in material testing as per lab scope and master in operate, maintained and troubleshooting of Injection Moldings Machines and testing equipment.
12. Accurate measurement, recording and reporting of data.
13. Sets up, starts and runs all machinery, checking all controls for adherence to operating/safety procedures and ISO standards.
14. Refers issues/problems to Supervisor for disposition.
15. Documents work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
16. Attend and participates in training and seminar, retraining and continual improvement processes and methods which relevant to this position.
17. Liaison between plants, lab and the vendor service representatives.
18. Perform routine tooling changes and modifications including equipment set-up and calibration.
19. Performs work in accordance with good safety practices. Work with high degree of safety awareness and maintain good housekeeping conditions
20. Support and participate in company quality improvement program and events.
21. To perform any additional duty assigned by Management.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. At least Master Degree in Polymer Engineering/ Science/ Chemistry/ Materials Science/ Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.
2. 2 years or above experience will be a plus for the position.
3. Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant knowledge in plastics testing and minimum of 1 year of experience in laboratory operation and quality management system.
4. Value added if he or she has experience of statistical analysis.
