Position Summary:
The Senior Quality Assurance Specialist develops, publishes, and implements test plans for web based and custom applications throughout the full lifecycle of the software. The QA Specialist also writes and maintains test automations and develops quality assurance standards. This person is responsible for defining and tracking quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts.


Position Responsibilities:
¨ Defines, develops and implements quality assurance practices and procedures, test plans and other QA assessments
¨ Develops automated testing systems using commercial tools, scripts and data sets
¨ Ensures that all items follow the change management process and are entered and tracked through the change management software
¨ Works directly with appropriate Merkle personnel to understand project concept, objectives and approach of software development projects
¨ Defines scope and objectives of all levels of QA testing
¨ Participates in all aspects of testing, including functional, regression, load and system testing
¨ Responsible for the overall success of testing. Manages assigned projects from functional Quality Testing through final User Acceptance Testing
¨ Establishes the purpose and deliverables of the test effort
¨ Provides resource planning, management and resolution of issues that impede the test effort
¨ Assures the appropriate level of quality by the resolution of important defects by working with developers to ensure the software development process has an appropriate level of testing
¨ Creates effective manual and automated test plans, using a variety of toolsets
¨ Works collaboratively with development during all stages of projects to provide in-process testing results
¨ Coordinates groups of business personnel who test, evaluate and validate new functions and applications, and identify issues in software or services
¨ Records and reports on testing metrics
¨ Tracks and reports defects using appropriate tools such as JIRA


Position Qualifications:
¨ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
¨ 3 years experience software test experience, working with a structured software methodology
¨ 3 years experience testing multiple software projects simultaneously
¨ Experience using SQL to create data sets
¨ Experience creating scripts for automating processes
¨ Experience testing in a UNIX environment
¨ Experience with source versioning control (Subversion, Visual Source Safe, Starteam, CVS)
¨ Experience in systems integration and user acceptance testing
¨ Experience diagnosing, reporting, tracking and resolving quality issues
¨ Familiarity with the following SDLCs: Waterfall, Spiral, Agile and/or Scrum
¨ Familiarity with Windows
¨ Ability to solve problems creatively
¨ Ability to communicate clearly in writing, by phone and in person
¨ Ability to work independently
¨ Ability to prioritize, schedule and complete testing required for multiple applications with overlapping schedules
¨ Ability to launch new projects and follow through to completion
¨ Willingness and ability to create and adapt to new technologies
¨ Demonstrated ability to work well with business analysts, programmers and end users in a cross functional team

¨ Experience working in a variety of programming languages and environments
¨ Experience testing web-based applications
¨ Experience testing data warehouse processes
¨ Working knowledge of some or all of the following quality assurance methods: unit, integration, regression, user interface automated testing
