Within the Value Management Department/Electronics Systems Group, responsibilities for the position of Product Engineer includes managing the identification, validation and implementation of design and process changes related to Value Analysis / Value Engineering for the braking, steering & suspension and occupant safety systems product lines. Evaluate cost reduction and product improvement ideas with respect to technical feasibility, financial benefit and customer acceptance. Provide primary interface to internal groups for electronic control systems related hardware, software and packaging designs. Possess an understanding and ability to apply a variety of product design, material and process technologies. Close cooperation with internal and external groups including purchasing, manufacturing, suppliers and customers. Learn value methodology to support workshops. Coordinates engineering changes, tooling and process modifications, testing, PPAP, customer approval and manufacturing launch.

· Must be highly motivated, able to work independently and manage projects to predefined timelines and deadlines.

· Must possess ability to communicate to both executive and lower levels of management through presentations and detailed analysis.

· Must be highly motivated, assertive, able to work independently and drive ideas through completion.

· Possess excellent interpersonal skills, creativity and a passion for cost reduction.

· Six Sigma Black Belt/Green Belt certification preferred.

Educational: Minimum of bachelor degree in electrical, computer science or related engineering discipline.

Experience: Minimum of four years of progressive experience working in product development of automotive electronic systems. Manufacturing background and process engineering a plus.
