Overall Purpose of Job:

Manage a team of Commodity Buyers which will develop and implement the most beneficial type of sourcing agreements to ensure that the objectives of TRW Automotive Purchasing Policy are met


Major Responsibilities:

? To approve suppliers for the Plastics commodity globally
? To manage the development of a global network of best practice suppliers in cost, quality and service
? To lead and organize multi-functional teams to carry out Purchasing reviews
? To play a leading role in establishing and maintaining legally binding contracts and purchasing
agreements for specific commodities
? To take an active part in value analysis teams by providing a sourcing view in the specific commodity area with regard to identifying alternative designs, materials and processes
? To set and monitor purchasing targets as a means of reducing total acquisition costs
? To develop the Purchasing strategy for the Plastics commodity globally
? To continually seek out world class benchmarks and incorporate them into sourcing strategies
? To be accountable for the smooth and effective interaction between Central Purchasing and all other functions in order to provide the optimum service for the business
? To make a full and effective contribution to the formulation of a global coherent Purchasing strategy
? To establish, monitor and achieve objectives in support of the SAP/QAD/VIN, as well as to contribute to the development, monitoring and achievement of annual budgets



Key Competencies:

? Working in and preferably leading multifunctional project teams with set and achieved goals
? Ability to travel 25% of the time
? A proven thorough working knowledge of both business and financial matters
? It is also expected to have developed the range of skills identified for Purchasing professionals as well as
- team leadership
- negotiation skills
- management skills
- strategic sourcing tools
- fluency in English language (verbal and written)


Education and Experience:

Educational: Education to diploma / degree level preferably in an engineering / technology or commercial subject or to have acquired or be in the process of acquiring a recognized professional purchasing qualification. A further post-graduate qualification in business studies would be an additional advantage

Experience: Typically six years in a responsible position within Purchasing or significant experience in a relevant function (e.g. Engineering / Manufacturing / Sales) together with a minimum of 12 months experience in Purchasing
