Purpose
IKEA FOOD is also about encouraging IKEA store visitors to stay longer and enjoy more, making it fun for everyone, offering great food at low prices, giving visitors a tasty reason to return again and again, and providing co-workers with a chance to rest and re-charge.
Mandate
You lead and manage the IKEA FOOD Swedish Food Market and Bistro and Cafe team, using the HR idea. You implement the IKEA FOOD concept to increase the sales of IKEA home furnishings products and support the IKEA position as the leading home furnishings company.
You support your co-workers, using the HR idea, so that they can carry out the IKEA FOOD concept. This involves generating store traffic, converting visitors to customers, strengthen the low-price profile and the Swedish identity of the IKEA store.
You contribute to a positive final impression and ensure an appealing welcome back offer to our store visitors. You focus on our customers, seek (and act on) feedback, monitor customer satisfaction and improve service levels. You see the area through the eyes of the customer.
You are a member of the IKEA FOOD management team, bringing functional specialist knowledge to this group as well as contributing on a generic level to the decision making process in order to achieve the function objectives.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
Quality and Food Safety
- Work together with the Kitchen Production Manager in operating your IKEA FOOD areas, in accordance with the IKEA Quality, Food Safety and Environmental requirements and other relevant legislation
Commerciality
- Maximise vitality and commerciality of IKEA FOOD in your store to increase sales and profitability according to your goals. Implement your action plan utilising the appropriate national and international benchmarking tools and best-practice; for example merchandising techniques, sales KPI's, sales steering, 3 Aces & 1 king and price & quality ladder.
Leadership HR & Communication
- Ensure that all co-workers in the IKEA Swedish Food Market and Bistro team understand the IKEA Concept and how this impacts on their specific roles. Train your coworkers on product knowledge and how to work with the Swedish Food Market range.
Business Navigation
- Develop, agree with the IKEA FOOD Manager and communicate to your team an annual action plan for the IKEA Swedish Food Market and Bistro to execute the IKEA FOOD country and Function business plan. Monitor and evaluate the success of this plan in order to influence future plans.
Knowledge
- University degree in hotel, restaurant, tourism or business administration and proven leadership abilities, from successful experience of retail management or, from experience being a multi-unit food service manager.
ALTERNATIVELY
- Extensive and advanced successful commercial or retail management experience and successful experience being a multi-unit food service manager with proven leadership abilities with strong experience managing managers as well as management competence.
- Ability to speak and understand verbal and written English at Business level.
- Ability to read and analyse KPI's.
- Computer literate.

- Communicative and high energy in bringing out the best in direct reports and other co-workers by motivating and developing them
- Passionate about food and people.
