Responsibility

Review and provide input for supplier selection activities including supplier evaluation and quality systems audits. Will coordinate supplier process capability programs for new components, processes, assemblies or purchased finished goods.Reports directly to the Senior Quality Manager. Will work with internal staff and outside suppliers, vendors
1.Ensures that project and/or process control documentation is compliant with requirements and/or contracts.
2.Coordinates with suppliers relating to quality performance, trends, and corrective action. Verifies compliance and effectiveness of the quality system by performing supplier audits and surveys. Initiate programs to improve supplier performance.

3.Works with suppliers to refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to assure quality of goods and services provided.
4.Will be responsible for ensuring that nonconforming material is dispositional in a timely manner, in addition to analyzing defect trends in order to initiate appropriate corrective action.
5.Responsible for the specification and validation of inspection tools and gages for suppliers.

6.Integral participant in all design reviews; reviews and approves all Supplier Quality Requirement Plans (SQR's) and develops follow-up plans after implementation.
7.Will perform Quality Systems and Process Audits of current suppliers including reporting, follow-up and closure of non-conformances.
8.Handle process improvements at supplier facilities.

Requirement

- BS degree in Engineering field or related technical discipline and/or ASQ certification as Quality Engineer.
- Knowledge of and experience with Gasoline / Diesel Engine and Transmission, Clutch,
- A thorough understanding of use and application of statistical quality assurance methods is required.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, top management and suppliers.

-Ability to effectively apply continuous improvement principles and techniques to quality and manufacturing functions.
- Ability to use standard business software applications and/or specialized data analysis tools.
Successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years previous experience, preferably as a supplier quality engineer in the automotive industry. Excellent project management skills. ASQ certification preferred. Experience with the following: PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, VAVE, manufacturing problem solving ,methodology, change management process with suppliers through plant specific change management processes, and Lean.
