1. Position Summary
For NYU Shanghai we are looking for a Controller, Operational Controller at the earliest opportunity who will directly report to Campus Financial Officer.
Direct Reports: 5
2. Principal Accountabilities
· Provide a service oriented approach and act as a business partner with key University administrators and faculty on finance related policies, systems and controls.
· Monitor and control the operational accounting and reporting of business transactions, which includes financial information system, statutory and management reporting, cash flow management, tax, treasury, purchasing and receiving, collection and disbursement, payroll accounts, bursar (student billing) and banking services etc;
· Oversees monthly/ quarterly/ annual financial results, and budgets. Direct the preparation of all company financial management and statistical reports for local authorities and special financial reports as required;
· Supervise all matters relating to taxes and fiscal management, with the assistance of external tax consultants;
· Ensure all treasury functions are managed according to university and local policy and are handled in a timely manner;
· Monitor an internal financial system controls and operations to support the development of performance metrics and reports with the focus on high priority opportunities, approved strategies and resource allocation in meeting business objectives;
· Manage and maintain an efficient accounting organization based on best practices for all functions present in China, in line with internal standard policies, procedures and local statutory requirements;
· Align with local and NYU global financial requirements and provide support to the management team in terms of financial GAAP and gain consensus to ensure progress to support the growth to drive the business forward;
· Assist the Campus Financial Officer and upper management with overall financial operations;
· Responsible for the supervision of the Finance team and pcoaching and guidance on an on-going basis. Organize teams and individuals with specific goals and objectives and performance measurement systems;

3. Required Qualifications
· At least 8 years' financial experience with above 4 years as a senior management role responsible for financial operation, financial analysis, business support and management information system. etc;
· Strong knowledge of accounting and reporting standards e.g. PRC GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP, etc;
· Master's degree is required. Certified Public Accountant is preferred. Big 4 backgrounds coupled with hands-on experience of managing the finance functions would be a satisfactory alternative;
· Experience of working in a fast growing and dynamic environment. Ability to stay business focused and balance between control vs. growth objectives;
· Mandarin and English proficiency;
· High professional integrity, honesty and trust
· Technically strong and commercially astute.
