Technical area: joining of steel/aluminum auto body parts including welding, riveting

Responsibilities:

EHS

- Utilizes equipment in a safe operating manner and in compliance with Novelis safety standards

- SME for EHS concerns related to a specific process(es), laboratory(ies), or functional area(s);  ensures consideration of EHS in design/adoption of techniques and equipment

- May be accountable for ensuring appropriate EHS and housekeeping practices for an assigned area at a site

- May be responsible for ensuring that other employees in an assigned area in a safe operating manner and utilize safe practices to comply with Novelis safety standards.

Technical Expertise

- Specialized knowledge of joining related tests procedure and evaluation method, standards.

- Performs engineering tasks of high complexity; maintains and diagnoses critical equipment, test results or performance issues

- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the KPIs for a work area and recognize the significance to the business.  

- Independently troubleshoots most problems within area of expertise

- accountable for outcomes of project teams

- Capability on lab management process setup, test procedures. 

Communication

- Frequently communicates technical  information or results effectively to colleagues, external suppliers and customers that influences program decision-making

- Leads regular review meetings with stakeholders on joint projects.

- Deliver data, reports, and communication to project stakeholders

- Identifies and communicates best practices and methods to others.

Team Orientation 

- Leads/coordinates the efforts of others to achieve common goals and reviews their work/progress

- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with  work group, other internal functional areas, external suppliersand customers if applicable

- Relates well to different types of people, interacts confidently and establishes quick rapport

- Regularly provides technical coaching to more junior staff

- Maintains a network of technical contacts within and outside of the organization

- Influences hiring decisions

Technical Decision Making

- Determines own priorities and may deviate from established procedures as long as results meet standards

- Works autonomously

- Influences significant capital or process decisions at site level. May influence capital or process decisions at multiple sites or globally

- Assessing and evaluating risks and recommending a course of action; able to make a decision with limited information

Information Management

- May write drafts of formal test reports or contribute to sections of these reports

- Coordinates collection of best practice information 

- Creating the documentation process

- Prepares and contributes to training programs

Requirements

- Bachelor’s in Mechanical, material or related field. Master’s preferred

- Entry to this level typically requires 3 years of relevant experience 

- High level of self-initiative

- Project Management experience with multiple projects

- Experience of materials mechanical testing (riveting or welding experience preferred) 

- Good communication skills and fluent English language.

- Experience of lab installation is a PLUS
