1. BASIC FUNCTION:

 

The incumbent is expected to conduct specific geophysical studies & analyses related to hydrocarbon exploration, as well as prepare appropriate reports. The incumbent will work together with more senior and more junior Exploration professionals and technicians assigned to complete certain geophysical studies.

 

2. SCOPE:  

 

Report to Director of Beijing Research Center. Work under the general direction.

Under the direction of unit level supervision or a team leader, the incumbent is expected to perform specific tasks related to exploration geophysics. Incumbent as an assistant to and co-worker with higher classified and more experienced geophysicists may perform advanced projects. The incumbent will also carry out specific geophysical studies that are required to solve precise Exploration problems.

Internal:

Dhahran EXPEC- Advanced Research Center and Saudi Aramco Asia Company.

 

External:

Relevant geophysical enterprises, research institutes and universities in Asia.

 

4. PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

 

• Assist with investigations into geophysical problems related to hydrocarbon exploration.

• Assist in geophysical analyses of seismic as well as other related geophysical data.

• Conduct, under supervision, advanced geophysical analyses of seismic data in order to efficiently exploit their contribution for accurate subsurface imaging.

• Prepare reports and oral presentations of the outcome of the geophysical studies for review by management.

• Attend meetings and conferences that contribute significantly to advancing the individual's expertise.

• Perform other miscellaneous duties as directed by the Manager.

5. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:         

 

• Bachelor degree and/or higher in geophysics/ physics/ mathematics/ computer science with 5 years of relevant research experience. Alternatively, 2 years’ experience for candidates with Master, or fresh Ph.D. graduate in above major.

• Working experiences in the oil industry is preferred but is not a must.

• Substantial expertise in few of the geophysical disciplines used in hydrocarbon exploration preferred.

• Skills and experience in people and project management are also preferred.

• Good communication skills in English (writing and speaking) are important.
