SUMMARY:
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports and for development of or input to 3D models and 2D drawings. The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Lead Mechanical Engineer on a large project, and to the Project Manager or Engineering Manager on a small project. The Mechanical Engineer may have intermediate and junior engineers / engineers in training and designers/technologists reporting to them.
The Engineer will be involved and/or responsible for all types of engineering work including developing solutions, design, drawing mark-ups and checking, technical construction and commissioning queries, as-built detail documentation and estimating in all areas of the plant and for various systems including: conveyors and material handling equipment; rotary equipment; pumps, agitator, compressor, fan, blower,access platforms; as well as specialized mechanical design problems, and oversee the installation and commissioning of these solutions.

JOB DUTIES:

? Assist in defining project scope
? Assist the Engineering Manager/Lead Mechanical Engineer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule
? Perform system analyses, establish user requirements, analyze system functional and performance requirements, define design criteria, and establish system layouts and designs
? Prepare engineering calculations that all analyses satisfy user and system requirements
? Prepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplines
? Conduct interface management between related systems
? Prepare data sheets based on input received from other disciplines
? Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise
? Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates
? Prepare and/or review project standard specifications and design criteria
? Prepare or provide input to 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings
? Participate in and contribute to design reviews
? Carry out assigned tasks within budget and schedule
? Stamp documents and drawings as required and if appropriately registered
? Manage small capital and maintenance projects
? Assist in preparing proposals
? Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologists
? Assist in the compilation and delivery of monthly engineering status reports
? Construction supervision and management dependent upon project demands
? Assist in the commissioning of systems on site as required.

Essential Requirements
? A recognized degree in engineering from an accredited College or University.
? Minimum ten years project engineering experience.
? Good communication and interpersonal skills.
? Good planning and organizational skills.
? Ability to function with minimal supervision.
? Working knowledge of industry standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the mechanical engineering discipline.
? Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team and coordinate mechanical activities between disciplines.
? Good safety awareness
? Sufficient experience to know when an issue needs to be escalated.
? Read and write in English

Desirable
? Exposure to Hatch systems such as the iPas suite of tools.
? Experience with software used at Hatch, such as Microstation PDS and Plantspace, Solid Edge, Microsoft Office suite, Data Manager, MathCAD, Ansys, Ansys Workbench and Strand 7.
? Registration with provincial/state engineering regulatory authority, if working in a country where this is not a legal requirement.
? Experience in EPCm project
? Oral communication in English
