What you’ll be doing  

    

'You will be working with the design and development team, taking early designs and developing these for production by detailing construction and technical details. You will be creating working drawings in Solidworks or AutoCAD, taking initial designs from the team and developing these so that they can be made in a cost effective and structurally adequate way.' 

    

• Create the technical drawings from the designer’s models for all new items being developed in China according to a clear and written SOP.
• Create the technical drawings for all existing products to ensure we have clear and accurate drawings for both QC and re-source.
• Create the design models and technical drawings for range extensions e.g. bed sizes, additional sizes of chest of drawers and sideboards etc.
• Working closely with product development technicians and designers
• Finishing the projects independently

                        

    

what you’ll need

• Proficient with AutoCAD/ Solid Works, Photoshop and Illustrator
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment with specific factory/production familiarity
• Collaborative and inclusive work style – comfortable sharing both information and credit
• Natural curiosity and creative problem-solving skills.
• Can anticipate production challenges and take steps to avoid them
• Understands materials and process in a manufacturing setting
• Affinity for modern design
• Ability to balance multiple, competing priorities

Specific skills

• Background / Prior Experience - Desirable candidates must have a minimum of 3 or 4 years’ experience working with AutoCAD or Solid Works
• A manufacturing environment - Wood and metal experience important, plastics experience is helpful.
• An understanding of materials and manufacturing processes along with some mechanical aptitude.
• Good communication and technical writing skills necessary. ?
• Proficient in English (written and verbal) and Chinese
