The APAC Accounting Manager will be primarily responsible for Payables and VAT compliance for the APAC region with added oversight for Internal Control, Treasury, and Revenue functions. This person will play a key role in building and leading a team of associates ranging in title from Analysts to Clerk. The manager will report directly to the Sr. Director of Global Payables.   

As a key accounting leader located in Shanghai, this person will work with local and global internal stakeholders (Finance, Stores, Operations, Marketing, Real Estate) – as well as external partners (Vendors, Landlords, Tax Authorities, Banks) to maintain and strengthen working relationships. Additionally, the manager will be required to provide day-to-day oversight for other local finance functions.  

What Will You Be Doing?

Manage the Accounts Payable function for the APAC region:

·         Manage a payables team responsible for all APAC payable-related activities

·         Build strong culture of accountability and ensure APAC adherence to Company processes and controls

·         Work closely with Global Home Office Accounts Payable team to establish and enforce company payables policies and related controls

·         Identify opportunities for efficiencies and standardize processes procedures

Oversee APAC VAT Filing, Payment and Refund Processes:

·         Manage a VAT team responsible to regional VAT requirements

·         Ensure regional VAT requirements and filings are timely, accurate and in accordance with applicable regulations

·         Act as local expert for all VAT related activities while working with Global Home Office VAT team to ensure alignment

·         Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements, while streamlining related processes  

Provide guidance and oversight for other APAC finance personnel:

·         Representative responsible for APAC adherence to corporate internal control environment

·         On-site local support for treasury and revenue accounting functions

·         Utilize local language speakers to offer local landlord support

·         Provide feedback and direction to the Global Home Office teams on strategies to achieve objectives

What Do You Need to Bring?

·         Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance-related field

·         6-8 years of retail industry and/or public accounting experience

·         United States based company experience/exposure strongly preferred

·         PeopleSoft or similar Accounting/ERP system experience required

·         Managerial and Team Building experience preferred

·         Proven leadership experience and ability to thrive in team-based settings

·         Self-motivated, strategic thinking, positive team player who is resilient and eager to learn

·         Ability to clearly communicate with and Influence senior-level leaders

·         Operate independently within established guidelines and strict control environment

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

·         Some travel required
