Background:

Ocean East is 100% owned by Maersk Group, which located in Shanghai. Currently Ocean East is running 3 warehouse sites around 90,000 SQM; 100,000 SQM container depot and 60+ container trucks in Shanghai.

Due to the business expansion, Ocean East is looking for a strong experienced candidate to take up the position as Director of Commercial & Technology. We have great ambitions to develop our business in into a profitable and world class operating unit and in this regard we are seeking for an experienced and qualified person to drive the commercial function.

Purpose & general responsibilities of the position:

Commercial

• Drive business development of new services and revenue streams
• Overall be responsible for sales and marketing function setup and development
• Provide best practice for client’s management
• Build up, coordinate and implement external relations programs

Technology

• Build up and maintenance the company IT network and equipment
• Follow up the IT policy from Maersk Group and build up the company cyber security policy
• Manage the application team to fulfill the operation requirement to enhance the application system
• Help company to develop the IT business

Specific responsibilities of the position:

Business Development

• Lead and develop new businesses through research, networking, planning and prospecting; propose and develop new services and revenue streams
• Working out and formulate long/short term business plan based on analysis and prospecting
• Upgrade potential clients into Key Clients in conjunction with the clients management
• Develop commercial synergies and good relationships with potential cooperation partners

Sales & Marketing

• Build up and manage sales network
• Identify and propose feasible VAS to achieve profitability
• Conduct market research to collect industry & competition information; identify and position company strategically in the market place
• Plan, organize and control local advertising and event activities in line with company’s advertising strategy or initiatives to ensure that the business interests and brand of company are reflected to the best advantage

Clients Management

• Secure, maintain and monitor for all Key Clients to ensure optimal coverage of local market
• Establish customer service benchmark and develop measuring tools to monitor and improve service level
• Lead the solution development process for new third party clients, including meeting the customers, preparing the proposal, solution modification, pricing and tender etc
• Keep and enhance present Key Clients relationships with general sales area to meet business plan of the company

Others

• Drive the establishment and development of commercial department organization
• Daily department administration
• Submit various routine reports, proposal and budget required by management team

IT Development

• Setup the IT scheme to well manage the network and all servers to make sure all the devices are running well
• Regular checking and maintain the IT equipment to keep them working well
• Drive the app development from other parties
• Ensure all the application and servers are well running
• Motivate the team to be more creative on the system automation

Specific requirements for the position:

Essential

• Good sense of commercial, marketing, client service
• Sound managerial and administrative skills
• Performance oriented
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Analytical skills
• Passion, initiative and drive to service clients and to develop new services with creativity and innovation

Preferred

• Project management experience/ exposure
• Proven Negotiation skills - (Persuasion Technology)
