Purpose of the job:
In order to support business development in DSM Great China, high standard in maintenance related management & technology is demanded to support sustainable operations. The purposes of this job are:
- Introduce and implement Manufex Maintenance, Improve Equipment Reliability and MRO work process in a sustainable way on DSM Great China sites while maintaining the Chinese clock speed (creating Blue Ocean/competitive advantage).
- Identify technology and competence (related to maintenance, Improve Equipment Reliability and MRO) needs on sites. Build up local Manufex Maintenance, Improve Equipment Reliability and MRO competences on DSM Great China sites.
- Identify and harvest Operational Excellence benefits and synergies in general by exchanging, applying best practices and standardizing in field of Maintenance, IER and MRO over DSM Great China sites, including compliance to China-specific rules and regulations.
- Provide consultancy and support to all China units/projects on Maintenance, Improve Equipment Reliability and MRO, including CMMS (e.g. SAP-PM, Cure), supplier optimization, improving effectiveness and efficiency, organization, RCAs and FMEAs etc.
- To act as a focal point for the site taskforces and site management as assigned and Corporate contact person in the region for reliability & maintenance.
To develop the network of expertise related to reliability and maintenance outside DSM in order to make DSM always be in the advanced field of technologies for continuous changing and improving reliability & maintenance
The Position:
1. Identifies all relevant SHE and security aspects and assesses the corresponding risks related to his/her job (e.g. use of machines, traveling, required training, ergonomics, SHE plans etc.); acts in such a way that the SHE and security impact on him/herself and others is minimized (e.g. following instructions/procedures, knowing location of fire extinguishers, good housekeeping etc.); reports and gives follow-up to any incidents (near misses, injuries, dangerous occurrences etc.)
2. Build-up and lead an effective network with site representatives
3. Frequent traveling is an intrinsic part of the job, since the support activities mostly need to be done on site/at branch offices.
4. Assess the status and possibilities of the sites of DSM China on Maintenance, IER and MRO define gaps & opportunities and work out improve proposals with champions and work process owners;
5. Find the best implementations/practices/tools for Maintenance, IER and MRO via global contacts (especially membership of MARS group) and steal with pride. Make use of best practices/tools in and outside China and share/implement them around/at the DSM China sites in a continuous way;
6. Design and set up and organization to implement Manufex Maintenance, IER and MRO. Implement a lively network for maintenance and IER in Asia, establish year plans to structurally manage the joint improvements.
7. Manage the Maintenance, IER and MRO implementations of the sites on a project approach with professional targeting and follow up. Progress meeting with the local implementation owners, site/plant manager, to the wanted extent of implementation; evaluate and improve the implementation of Maintenance, IER and MRO periodically together with the site champions and work process owners and acknowledgement from the site managers;
8. Get actively engaged with the key people on sits and stimulate self supporting character of executing and follow up of the actions in compliance with SHE, on time and within budget;
9. Spot, train and coach site Champions and key users for Maintenance, IER and MRO work processes; bring the knowledge of the site Champions to a level of self support and participation in the local networks;
10. Develop an education and training program for the Maintenance, IER and MRO Champions and key users in the field of their competences for both work processes and technology; Implement these education and training in agreement with and support of the relevant site manager and work process owners;
11. Set standards and define the level of quality and quantity for the use of Maintenance, IER and MRO processes, tools and practices;
12. Mange and implement new technologies with the aim to support the growth strategy based on experiences and improvements achieved on other sites in the field of Maintenance, IER and MRO;
13. Technical support to sites in China on reliability issues both in projects (with respect to equipment minimization and justification, operate ability and maintainability) and in IER;
14. Monitoring of external trends, e.g. via peers, external benchmarking;
15. Optimizing maintenance program via joint China site supplier management;
16. Guarantee the latest competence and skill level in the field of Maintenance, IER and MRO through active contact and exchange with M&T in China;
17. Make and maintain the network within DSM China Ltd by means of China meetings and visits in the field of Maintenance, IER and MRO;
18. Competence support to DSM China sites in Asia on Maintenance, IER and MRO;
19. Work in good cooperation with the members of the team of both Manufex execution project and Assets DSM China.
20. As agreed upon with their manager.
Complexity of the job:
The working field is complex because of the need for leading (a large) change both technical and cultural — without having line authority.
Representing DSM, variety internal and external stakeholders like internally, BG leaders, global functional leaders, site managements and externally suppliers, etc. to communicate with makes the job complex and challenging.

A combination of high expertise (overview) level and strong communication and persuasive skills is essential.
The Ideal:
1. MSc level in chemical or mechanical engineering discipline is preferred.
2. Cross Culture.
3. Maintenance, IER and MRO experience.
4. Knowledge of Manufacturing Excellence work process in particular Maintenance, IER and MRO materials management.
5. RCA/FMEA techniques and methodologies.
6. SAP PM or similar CMMS experiences.
7. Master of English.
8. Broad knowledge of related manufacturing disciplines.
9. At least 8 years’ experience in DSM or an European/American company or a large-sized state owned company in the field of Maintenance, IER and MRO within manufacturing.
