SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provide leadership for the management, identification, implementation and alignment of global sourcing strategies and global supplier network capabilities for Electronic Components, PCBAs, Electronic Sub-Assemblies, Cables, and Sterilization Services category to achieve business objectives. Responsible for the management of the $475+ million global PCBA, PCBA Sub-Assemblies, Cables, Electronic Components, and Sterilization Services category. Create a vision, provide leadership and develop Electronics category team members that foster a cohesive, highly skilled, and effective team that delivers substantial value to the Covidien organization. Ensure development and implementation of effective global cross divisional category strategies that are aligned with Business Unit objectives for cost, quality, risk mitigation, performance and leverage opportunities across divisions, functions and geographies.

Identify metrics, tools and processes to optimize sourcing, supplier activities, efficiencies, and work collaboratively with team members to prioritize and drive implementation. Identify, develop and manage strategic business relationships to gain a comprehensive understanding of business requirements. Evaluate supplier capabilities and establish sources for new technologies and in new markets as business requirements dictate. Design and implement strategies to rationalize the global supplier base and maximize the value of spend. Develop multiple region sources of supply including Emerging market sourcing regions. Develop annual cost savings programs and implement business strategies that directly affect company financials and growth plans and generate a minimum of 5.5% of spend in cost benefit annually. Direct the development and negotiation of supply agreements with material suppliers encompassing key program specifications and functional objectives. Liaison with GBU Sourcing, Research & Development, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Legal and Logistics to support new product launches.

Ability to influence across the organization (Operations, QA, GBU leadership) and build effective relationships both internal and external and interface with senior management as required. Manage six (6) direct reports - Category Managers in the respective spend disciplines located in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Reports directly to the Vice President of Contract Manufacturing and Emerging Markets.
2.Responsible for the management of $475+ million in global Electronics and Sterilization Services.
3.Works with key functions to ensure Electronics Components/Cable//PCBA/Sterilization/ supplier development strategies are aligned with the business unit objectives.
4.Influence and provide leadership across the organization (QA, Operations, GBU leadership)
5.Leads discussions on commercial supply for new and existing materials and suppliers.
6.Works to mitigate risk for all key raw materials.
7.Drives savings programs through the organization.
8.Prepares and presents project updates, marketplace trends and product variance reports.
9.Identify, develop and manage global supply base for Electronics
10.Components/Cable//PCBA/Sterilization services


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1.BS/BA Degree in Business Management, Engineering or other related science. MBA preferred
2.10-15 years of Sourcing and Supply Chain Management experience with global supplier management of greater than $500M in spend or experience managing Operations with Cost of Production greater than $100M.
3.Certification from the Institute of Supply Management (C.P.M., C.P.S.M.), Project Management, 10+ years in Medical Devices / Healthcare industry, Minimum of 7 years experience in managing staff and creating and developing effective teams.
4.Ability to provide strong leadership and guidance to team and stakeholders, strong alignment building and collaborative skills, proven ability to influence and provide leadership across an organization, adaptable in dealing with ambiguous and complex environments, proven ability to effectively communicate to a diverse audience at multiple levels within the company, ability to motivate and develop a high performing and effective team.
5.Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Ability to manage multiple projects

Medtronic Shanghai Manufacturing Facility (SMF) is Medtronic’s first wholly-owned manufacturing subsidiary in China. The site was founded in November 2006 and officially inaugurated in April 2007. With an initial investment of 40 million USD, SMF boasts a gross floor area of 18,414 square meters in Caohejing Hi-Tech Park. The site is composed of 3,000 square meters with Class-8 clean room and 500 square meters for laboratory use. There are currently 340 employees and 16 product lines producing
tissue heart valves, high-frequency medical equipment, abdominal surgery instruments, and diagnostic/treatment instruments used in the operation room and first aid.

SMF continuously expands its local manufacturing capabilities by adding one or two new products to its portfolio per year in average. In 2014 through 2015, collaboration between SMF and Medtronic China Technical Center successfully drove launches of the ablation technology based hepatic surgery devices and new generation of advanced electrosurgical instruments for vessel sealing and dividing. In 2016, 13 million USD was invested in SMF’s further evolvement to introduce the new tissue heart valve manufacturing line for the Medtronic Cardiac Vascular Group. The tissue heart valve material will contribute to helping patients who suffer from congenital, cardiovascular, coronary and rheumatic heart diseases. Starting 2017, the combination of our local and global heart valve manufacturing will help 65,000 patients improve their access to high-quality treatment in China and around the world.
