Senior Web Services Development Engineer: Web Services Platform

Rovi is seeking a Senior Web Services Development Engineer to join the engineering team developing Rovi Entertainment Store. Built on proven technology, Rovi Entertainment Store (RES) provides retailers, service providers, CE manufacturers, content owners, PC OEMs and developers with a powerful solution to drive revenue from over-the-top (OTT) storefronts and cloud-based video delivery system. This position requires at least 7 years experience in object oriented software development. Experience with ASP.NET required, and VB.NET experience will be preferred. Knowledge of the entertainment industry, specifically online content delivery, is highly beneficial but is not essential.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with a very strong team of program managers, software engineers, quality assurance engineers, and many other Rovi groups, the Senior Web Services Development Engineer will play a key role in the design, prototype, and development of web service applications for the next generation Rovi Entertainment Store products. Additionally, the Senior Web Services Development Engineer will maintain existing web service applications and ensure scalability and efficiency through optimization and clean design.

Qualifications:

? 7+ years experience in object oriented programming (C++, C#, VB.NET)
? 5+ years experience in .NET web application development using following technologies:
ASP.NET 2.0 and above in VB.NET, HTML/DHTML, AJAX, OOP, CSS, Javascript, XML and Web services.
? 5+ years experience with relational database development in MS SQL 2000/2005 including writing effective and efficient T-SQL and stored procedures
? Demonstrated experience developing and consuming SOAP/REST/JSON web services using an SOA architecture
? Experience with building highly scalable eCommerce web sites - Strong knowledge of high transactional environments, web services, and caching
? Strong understanding of web technologies, terminology, trends and limitations
? Solid understanding of OOP and design
? Flexibility and ability to work with different programming language or technologies
? Must have strong attention to detail and be able to work as a team player
? Strong communication, problem-solving and organizational skills along with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment required
? Product Familiarity: MS Visual Studio.NET 2008/2010, MS SQL Server Management Studio
? Fluent in English
