JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking an outstanding individual with strong leadership skills, high energy and Plant Biochemistry/Biotechnology research experiences. The position is available at Director Level with full responsibility of leading Plant Biology Group in Firmenich Asia Pacific R&D Centre based in Shanghai.
Job responsibilities
? Lead and integrate the Plant Biology Group including Botany, Biochemistry and Biotechnology; provide the group with a clear direction of natural chemical discovery and development, leading to Fragrance and Flavour ingredients.
? Contribute the company R&D strategy in the area of Plant Biology - how plant biology may add value to Fragrance and Flavour business operations.
? Leverage existing technologies and evaluate/develop new technologies in the area of botany, plant biochemistry and plant biotechnology.
? Propose, manage and supervise research projects.
? Develop and manage both internal and external collaborations.
? Develop strong relationship with internal customers from the business divisions and other affiliates.
? Oversee and ensure the proper application of health and safety standards in own group and the R&D function.
Profile
? PhD in Plant Biology fields with emphasis in plant biochemistry and biotechnology.
? Knowledge in plant biochemical pathways (particularly secondary metabolic pathways) and modern tools such as metabolomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, genomics and genetics.
? At least seven years research or relevant industrial experiences (natural products, biotechnological tools).
? Demonstrated successful leadership in management of teams and projects in a global context.
? Analytical thinking and critical problem solving skills.
? Excellent communication skills.
? Experience of collaborations with internal and external research groups.
? Fluent in English and Chinese.
