The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of Draftsmen & Engineers. The team will be responsible for all aspects of engineering including a mixture of mechanical and architectural drafting. The Engineering Manager will also develop and implement engineering standards while coordinating closely with other global divisions.

 

·         Accountable for the preparation of mechanical and architectural customer drawings and detail fabrication drawings for metal & wood.  

·         Manage ECR (Engineering Change Requests) and documentation while coordinating with Project Management and Manufacturing teams.

·         Provide technical support collaborating with cross functional departments to ensure products are designed for maximum efficiency both through purchasing & manufacturing.  (Dealing with tooling specific things to save costs, dealing with MOQ etc)

·         Ability to prioritize and assign work for multiple projects to team members based on their skills and experience to provide the highest level of success while maintaining deadlines.

·         Ability to evaluate the teams strengths and weakness, and develop plans to improve while creating a department structure of senior and entry level team members.  

·         Develop & Monitor departmental KPI factors that align with divisional / corporate goals.

·         Create and monitor department operational and capital budgets – (Planned hours and technology upgrades)  

·         Monitor and evaluate employee performance and recommend or initiate promotions and manage disciplinary action.

 

 

Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or Mechanical engineering and / or equivalent work experience.

·         8-10 years experience as an Engineer in a wood and/or metal manufacturing environment  

·         3-5 years experience leading, managing and motivating an engineering team

·         High level of mechanical aptitude, trouble shooting and problem solving skills.

·         Good understanding of Metal & wood manufacturing and finishing techniques.

·         Familiar with various materials including sheet metal (Steel & aluminum), solid surface, stone, glass, wood veneers, high pressure laminates and melamine.  

·         Knowledge of drafting standards, tolerances, mathematics and engineering best practices.

·         Proficiency working with Autodesk Inventor is required

·         AutoCAD, Vault and other design software knowledge is a plus.

·         Must be familiar with ERP software and how items are structured in ERP for manufacturing (BOM)

·         Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English & Chinese.  

·         Must be able to produce under pressure of tight timelines and scheduling requirements
