We are looking for a Design Research Manager, based in Shanghai, China.

 

Position Overview

As a Design Research Manager, you will play a crucial role throughout the entire project process, including planning, personnel assignment, resource allocation and research leadership and supervision for the Research and Design projects. The Design Research Manager is also responsible for all job-related duties and functions of a Senior Design Researcher.

This role requires a high level of technical expertise in order to lead the execution of client deliverables across the full range of Research and Design projects, as well as provide direction and mentorship to the Research team.

 

Responsibilities:

·      Guide research teams through project cycles ensuring high-quality outcomes, including recruiting HCP, conducting user interviews, developing interview materials and activities, leading synthesis, and crafting presentations and reports.

·      Lead the practice of research reviews and help with integrating critique into our projects and culture.

·      Overseeing project work by direct report team members to execute various tasks to delivery research programs

·      Participate in all phases of Service Design, including journey mapping, service blueprinting, strategy development, roadmaps, playbooks

·      Uphold standards of quality and integrity in execution of all Research and Strategy deliverables for Shanghai team, and in coordination with global Research and Strategy group.

·      Nurture a culture of innovation and excellence within Worrell’s organization

·      Providing leadership to research team members and helping to recruit and develop the growth of talent on the team into the future, help inform succession planning, and to prioritize hiring needs to be managed against our hiring plan.

·      Lead efforts around attracting new members, developing, and leveraging our talented research team in a manner that supports our portfolio of work while also maintaining our strong studio culture.

·      Take part in the project acquisition phase, including pitching projects to clients, proposal writing, estimating hours and making a project plan

·      Other tasks required by the Management Team;

Requirements:

·      Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Design, Ethnography, Anthropology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Social Research or related fields; Oversea background is a preferred;

·      5+ years of healthcare experience in ethnographic or design research execution, human-centered design, service design, or related field

·      Strong Chinese (native) and English verbal and written skills.

·      Proven ability to use human-centered insight to answer business questions.

·      Mastery of qualitative research methods, including research scope and design.

·      Strong presentation skills with a creative and compelling storytelling style.

·      Sharp analytical and sense-making skills;

·      Passion for leading teams and teaching others about research.

·      Willingness to juggle several projects at once

·      Excellent project management skills and communication skills; 

·      A proactive, creative problem solver that thrives in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.

·      Able to travel – up to 25% domestic travel & occasional international travel;
