Data Engineer

Job Description:

The Data engineer is responsible for supporting the development and sustainability of all data integration projects according to the guidelines provided by the data architect and business requirements. The core focus of the data team will be making data available for the enhancement of all business activities by developing and improving data pipelines.

A successful candidate is able to:

? Design and develop critical data integration projects, mainly responsible for migrating the existing system from the database to data lake.

? Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) solutions for data-sharing projects

? Mining and sorting data in the data warehouse/lake, extracting business data for system modeling.

? Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and ‘big data’ technologies.

? Design and implement reports and graphical displays per requirement.

? Participate in research and development efforts as needed (database design, systems workflow, etc.)

? Secure all data to ensure its protection against unauthorized access to and/or improper transmission of information that could result in harm to the business

Required Skills

? Proficiency in Talend, Informatica, Pentaho and other ETL tools

? Advanced knowledge of relational databases, including proficiency with SQL (especially MySQL)

? Prior data conversion ETL experience

? Experience working with multiple databases (MySQL, SQLServer, etc.)

? Experience working with cloud data warehouse(Google Big Query, Microsoft Azure or other cloud data warehouse)

? A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets

? Excellent problem-solving skills

? Ability to push projects to completion

? Must be highly self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, AGILE-type environment

? Good analytical and communication skills

? Ability to work in a team environment

? Ability to work well under pressure with multiple priorities

? Proficient in English writing and communication

Education/Work Experience

? Bachelor’s degree in Math, Computer Science or a related discipline or comparable working experience.

? A minimum 5+ years’ experience in data extraction, transformation, and data loading

Preferred qualifications:

? Knowledge on Python/R/ Hadoop/Spark is plus.
