Regional IT Application Administrator

Line Manager: Regional IT Applications Manager

The person in this position will be responsible for data entry and extrapolation from the Student Database (ISAMS), Virtual Learning Environment system (ITSlearning), Finance ERP system (Navision), CRM system (Salesforce) and the other IT MIS platform. Applicants for this position must understand and be able to customize, build and support data and information systems and software and be competent in handling administrative tasks, including but not limited to:

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Supporting the Nord Anglia Education International School and Bilingual school’s management information system including iSAMS, Navision, ITSlearning and other 3rd party educational platform, including implementation project, daily maintenance, data migration and integration
  
• Installing and configuring new modules in conjunction with Central Office
• Monitoring and maintaining software performance across all sites. Talking users through a series of actions, either face to face, over the telephone or via remote desktop support as appropriate. Providing support, including procedural, documentation and training of new users as and when required in conjunction with local staff (All amendments are either firstly approved by the Regional IT Manager or if the addition/amendment is not system prohibitive then notification is sent to the Regional IT Manager for inclusion in other schools)
• Troubleshooting system hardware and software problems and diagnosing and solving these faults in conjunction with local super users, IT staff and external vendors as appropriate. Finding solutions to problems, be it through creating a desktop shortcut or fixing a major fault on the operating system/software
• Providing support, including procedural, documentation and training of new users as and when required in conjunction with local staff. Following diagrams and written instructions to fix system errors and or reconfigure the system as described (this may include the editing of XML files running of basic SQL scripts). Supporting new products or modules as well as changes to the current system
• Testing and evaluating new technology in conjunction with the global support team before release. Further refining the ‘physical design’ to meet system storage requirements
• Installing and testing new versions of the database management system. Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act; Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (‘metadata’) to ensure reporting criteria are better understood by day to day super users
• Controlling access permissions and privileges. Developing, managing and testing backup and recovery plans. Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
• Working closely with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers to ensure that Group Headquarters vision and image are maintained with all external and internal customers front facing products are maintained. Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security. Provide new school implementation support and ensure that the project plan as agreed with Central Office is delivered on time and within budget coordinating the local staff as required by the plan and reporting back progress
• Consulting clients/colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of the software system and asking questions to obtain information, clarify details and implement information. Constantly updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals and accessing other web-based research materials (Virtual Learning Environment). Problem-solving and thinking laterally as part of a team, or individually, to meet the needs of the project
• Testing new programs and fault finding. Developing existing programs by analyzing and identifying areas for modification in conjunction with local staff and Central Office. Creating technical specifications and test plans in conjunction with local staff and Central Office for submission to the Group IT Project Manager for both modifications and upgrades. Working with SQL and the DBA at Central Office where appropriate to solve more complex database queries. Maintaining systems by monitoring and correcting software defects
• Serving as the Database Administrator (DBA) in the regional level to support all the database related job including Microsoft SQL Statement programming skills and SQL SSRS, SSIS, SSAS knowledge etc. Responsible for SQL Server and Data Maintenance. Responsible for Business Reports Design and Generation. Have strong knowledge in Extract – Transform – load (ETL) between different platform.

Personal Attributes & Requirement:

• At Least 5 years relevant experience of working with Software packages, the support of and general maintenance.
• SQL scripting and MS-SQL Server database management experience is a must.
• SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) technical skill and experience is a must.
• Windows server configuration, XML coding is necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree or above.
• CET 6 or above, as a result good writing and spoken English will be essential, excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to work using own initiative or as part of a team.
• Experience of working in an IT support environment, iSAMS system experience is desirable.
• ITIL qualified would be an advantage. Previous experience of working in an educational environment would be beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialized experience which demonstrates knowledge of Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX OS, UNIX shell scripting, and Windows OS.
• Experience managing ITSlearning / Moodle (or other LMS) systems
• Experience using (as administrator, teacher, learner) Learning Management Systems (esp. ITSlearning)
• .NET programming experience
• Experience must demonstrate skills with MySQL and using PHP software to access databases.
• Experience must demonstrate knowledge in creating and modifying HTML
• Experience with the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySql, PHP) environment (3-4 years)
• Knowledge and experience writing and modifying javascript.
• Experience of working in an IT support environment. ITIL qualified would be an advantage. Previous experience of working in an educational environment would be beneficial
• Experience of the Microsoft Dynamics Navision system
• Experience of the salesforce CRM system (MuleSoft development)
