This role offers an exciting mix of responsibilities; combining Project / Program management, project team management, skills development, process development and change management; whilst delivering Projects in their own right. 

The role encompasses the following responsibilities:

• Project & Programme Delivery of propulsion system hardware products (such as combustion engine, e-Machine, transmission) with high focus to manage all project attributes and KPIs
• Leadership of Ricardo Shanghai based Programmes and teams across multiple countries and sites
• Development and improvement of Project Management capability
• Ensure Ricardo Process and Procedures are implemented and followed
• Ensure Ricardo Shanghai Project Portfolio is managed to the expectations of the business
• Ensure corporate Risk Management Process is followed and applied to all Projects
• Foster development of PM Department culture focussed on strong project delivery
• Ensure a focus on stake holder management (Client Management, Internal Work closely with Product Groups to support the lead and bid Phase of new business
• Management, Team Management)
• Lead responsible PM function and support Finance with monthly project accounting process

• >The Role:

Manage and develop diverse Project teams containing Product Group / BD, Engineers and Specialists in Ricardo Shanghai and other global divisions, with a focus on delivery of project management KPI’s. Furthermore, mentor and grow PM capability of directs within assigned team

• Set gold standard for Project Management within Ricardo with regards to delivery, contract management, resource, timing and budget management, customer management and communication with stakeholders

• Oversee the Ricardo project delivery process, from project initiation through to project closeout; to ensure delivery to commercial, technical and quality requirements. This will include the use of KPI based metrics to provide accurate tracking and reporting on key project attributes.

• Manage Project Team selection and delivery, ensuring:
• The appropriate mix of skills and competencies are matched to the project requirements
• Roles and responsibilities are clearly understood at the outset
• Feedback is continually sought to improve performance of the team and processes

• Oversee and monitor all projects managed in your portfolio, including
• Understanding the status and issues of individual projects
• Develop, maintain and report against key performance indicators
• Ensure sponsors and other stakeholders remain fully informed
• Understand, formulate, implement and report upon post project improvement plans
• Act as Project Leader to deliver projects in your own right where appropriate

• Grow a team of Project Managers with hardware development background
• Set objectives, coach, manage and assess performance of team members
• Grow the right capability regarding hardware development processes & procedure
• Develop project management skills of the team

The Ideal Candidate:

• A passion for technology and engineering: Technically literate and extremely curious, you will have some exposure to new energy vehicle, traditional and hybrid transmission and/or base engine technology, and at least 8 years’ relevant industry experience
• A collaborator, you will work well with internal and external stakeholders
• An analytical and strategic thinker, you will have the ability to develop and present balanced, insightful conclusions to stakeholders
• A strong people manager and leader, both of staff and of clients and commercial situations in project delivery
• Commercially astute and results focused with full appreciation for meeting deadlines, specifications and quality requirements
• Proven ability in delivering multi-million RMB projects in a matrix organization across multiple sites
• Proven ability in contract negotiations and contract management
• Proven ability in staff management, selection, growth, training and performance management                                      
• Proven ability in the implementation and application of Project Management processes 
• Well organised, with the ability to plan and deliver projects independently
• A resilient, pragmatic and determined outlook
• A good communicator, you will have a high standard of written and spoken Chinese and English
• Willing to travel and comfortable working across a range of cultures

Qualifications:

• Educated to degree level or holding an equivalent professional qualification.
• Association of Project Management accreditation or Prince2 an advantage
• MBA or further qualification in a Project Management related discipline an advantage
