ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Build capability to enable the Site leadership teams to implement the Toll HSE strategy.

• Provide leadership to the Site/Country HSE Managers and the Global Logistics team

• Provide HSE specialist and managerial support across the State to prevent fatalities, injuries, disease and ill health

• Translate and implement the Group/Divisional HSE strategy and development of Site HSE Plan

• Provide site leadership teams with coaching, mentoring and HSE technical support to prevent fatalities, injuries, disease and ill health

• Influence organisational change to drive a positive HSE culture and achieve objectives and targets.

• Supporting the business to implement the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management System

• Inspires individuals and the team to take ownership for delivering against business goals;

• Motivates and monitors performance so team deliver outstanding and sustainable results that support business priorities

• Actively builds organisational capability by educating others around own knowledge and expertise

                    

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DECISIONS/ LEVEL OF AUTHORITY

  

• Coach and mentor the Country Leaders, Site Managers and site leadership teams on strategies and activities to foster a positive safety culture

• Lead the development of the Country Strategy including a Strategic Health & Safety Plan, Operational Implementation Plan and leading the implementation of both plans.

• Lead a team of Site HSE professionals, including coaching and mentoring to drive a safety obsessed culture.

• Oversee, lead and manage site involvement in the HSE governance processes including HSE audits, incident management activities and reviews for continuous improvement.  

• Lead the implementation and maintenance of external HSE certifications

• Identify HSE legislative requirements and changes as it applies to their State/Country and with the agreement and approval of management integrate into the HSE Management System

• Accountable for ensuring the implementation of a rigorous incident investigation process, including appropriateness of corrective actions to prevent a recurrence and eliminate or otherwise minimise risk.

• Provide HSE specialist advice and technical support as required.  

• Manage the HSE risk profile, risk assessment and risk management processes for the sites within your Country/State(s) and Territories

• Lead and support organisational change to achieve a positive safety culture and achievement of HSE objectives and targets throughout the sites.

• Ensure all operational activities comply with applicable laws and regulations and Toll’s codes of conduct within the Country/State(s)

• Engage with the Country/Site leadership team to ensure HSE responsibilities and expectations are understood and enacted by all

• Interpret and analyse Site HSE trends and provide written and oral reports to senior leaders

  

In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have:

  

 

  

Knowledge/Experience

    

• Working experience in a high risk work environment

• Prior experience participating in and conducting audits and corrective action planning

• 7+ years in a HSE leadership role in large, complex National organisation  

• Preferably with 5+ years’ experience in working in supply chain with leadership capability of warehousing, transport, chain of responsibility and regulatory compliance

• Experience in relationship management of both internal clients and external stakeholders.

• Proven track record in influencing senior stakeholders in leading health and safety

• Excellent working knowledge of HSE

• Incident Investigation (ICAM preferred)

                

 

  

Technical/Professional Skills required

  

• Extensive knowledge of HSE legislation, industry standards and management system standards (ISO45001 & ISO14001).

• Process improvement

• High level of Microsoft skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Strong planning and organisational skills

• Financial and commercial acumen

• Process improvement

• Project Management

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese

                

 

  

Qualifications – Education and/or professional

  

• Tertiary qualifications, or equivalent industry experience in HSE

• Relevant local HSE professional qualifications
