Primary Responsibilities:

• Supporting product development technicians with sample reviewing and conducting inhouse testing to ensure products are safe and quality compliant
• Assembling and building Pre-Production samples to ensure they match Assembly Instructions
• Making / checking Assembly instructions, carton drawings and warning instructions
• Assisting with Technical Drawings (CH & UK)
• Following up on testing standards and 3rd party testing

Product and Engineering Development

?       Work with Product development technicians, merchandisers and suppliers daily, ensuring assembly instructions match the signed off sample and are within the agreed timeframes.

?       Ensuring all assembly instructions are well executed in terms of design, construction, fitting, and are to the agreed quality and customer standards.

?       You will assess and evaluating customer experience of a product, considering ease of assembly, safety, durability and functionality, fully ensuring designs are compliant, safe for use, durable, fit-for-purpose and meet due diligence requirements.

?       Working with the product development technicians and suppliers in resolving assembly problems arising during sample reviewing, actively proposing solutions and resolving problems without compromising design integrity.

?       Work with product development technician and suppliers to ensure all products requiring assembly have clear, concise and accurate, easy to follow assembly instructions produced in alignment to the agreed Made.com format.

?       Wherever necessary, revise assembly instructions to meet the needs of the business, ensuring revisions are made to meet customer expectations within agreed timeframes.

?       Work with product development technician and designers in the UK with the overflow of technical drawings to produce clear and concise technical drawings that are clear for the supplier to understand.

?       Ensure designers technical drawings have all the necessary information needed to develop and produce in accordance with the relevant Made.com standards.

?       Support product development technician with sample reviews, ensuring all products are well executed in terms of design, construction, fitting, and means of production, finish, raw materials, and assembly instructions to the agreed quality and customer standards.

Supplier Management

?       Create, build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, holding them accountable for product development defects and/or poor service in support of improving the supplier and product performance.

?       Monitor supplier and product performance through a clear understanding of the product development process and reporting, identifying the most cost-effective solutions in a timely and supportive manner ensuring a quick resolution to issues to reduce product launch delays.

Documentation, Tracking and Filling

• Coordinate proper documentation of all development projects – Assembly Instructions, carton drawings and warning instructions, technical drawings.
• On time product development and engineering t tasks: updating the New SKU tracking report to ensure all projects are following the agreed timeframe and product launch date
• Coordinate proper documentation of all development projects – sample reports, sample review reports, engineering changes, product specification sheets, technical drawings.
• Ensure folders are up to date and have all documentation saved in designated files.

?       Check Photo shoot samples are aligned with the confirmed signed off sample.

Product Testing

?       Check and confirm with UK technician, assembly instructions, care labels are aligned with testing and product standards.

?       Support product development technician, if the appropriate in-house or third party, needs to be carried out for all new and current lines during sample review process.

what you will need

• 1 – 3 years’ work experience in the home furnishings and furniture areas
• Proficient with AutoCAD/ Solid Works, Photoshop and Illustrator
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and product cost is necessary along with a solid mechanical aptitude
• Good communication and technical writing skills necessary
• Natural curiosity and creative problem-solving skills.
• Can anticipate production challenges and take steps to avoid them
• Highly organized/detailed with strong task follow-up capabilities
• Ability to balance multiple, competing priorities
• Collaborative and inclusive work style – comfortable sharing both information and credit
• Fluent in Chinese and able to use written English for daily work, and be able to speak English for daily communication
