RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with suppliers to refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement methodology, key lean manufacturing/production principles, and techniques to assure quality of goods and services provided. 
• Perform Quality Systems and Process Audits of current suppliers including reporting audit results, recommend product and process improvements, and drive root cause and corrective action activities to minimize non-compliances with product and process requirements.
• Participate in supplier-related Material Review Board (MRB)  to disposition discrepant material, identify root cause, and implement corrective action.
• Train supply base on quality expectations.
• Develop and manage supplier qualification process.
• Where applicable, test material to ensure compliance to specification.
• Lead supplier development activities in connection with Supply Chain resources targeting factory facing Quality and Delivery initiatives.
• Works with the supplier and procurement to reduce overall CoPQ (cost of poor quality).
• Work with Supply Chain Team on supplier risk mitigation - overall supplier reduction.
• Drive qualification of new suppliers in verifying need for customer/agency approvals and any geographic sourcing limitations.
• Drive improvement of supplier performance through a scorecard that measures supplier quality, delivery, and cost.
• Lead preferred supplier development through supplier performance audits and supply chain waste identification.
• Could participate on redesign of products to help remove cost as well improve both Quality and Delivery from the supplier.
• Drive regular improvement in materials cost by both qualifying new sources (PPV) and/or working with engineering to redesign and remove cost. 
• Drive quality and productivity (team effectiveness and efficiency) improvements using FBS principles.
• Act as change agent to implement constant state of improvement by “doing things differently”.

  REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION 

• Education - Bachelor degree required, majoring in Mechanical Engineering or other related major.

  

• Experience – Minimum 5 years of SQE working experience in manufacturing industry, and 2 years in management position is preferred.

  

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

English fluency required.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information, influence, persuade, and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, peers, and suppliers.  Additional language skills are beneficial.

  

TRAVEL 

Frequent travel of 15-30% is required and may be exceed these levels at times.  Travel regions may include but are not limited to Europe, the US, and countries in Asia or South America.
