Job Overview：

The Application Design Team supports the overall PET System and Tooling Business by providing plastic preform and plastic thread drawings and by providing its technical expertise to define solutions with risk assessment, for applications that are out of the standard guidelines used by PET Systems & Tooling Project Engineers and Project Managers.

The Applications Designer role supports essentially the technical solutioning and associated risk management via inquires, which can be related but are not limited to:

1. Create model and drawing of Plastic Preform and Plastic Thread drawings as per business’ needs,

The plastic preform and plastic thread drawings are integrally part of the contract between Husky and its customers, for each placed order. Therefore, they are contractual documents.

The plastic preform and plastic thread models are integrally part of internal processes to design molding parts as per the customers’ orders.

 2.  Product performance and risk analysis.

The Risk and Performance assessments are used by our Sales organization to propose relevant offers to the customers and then negotiate the contract terms which will include, but are not limited to, our assessments translated into Husky’s commitments.

A first period of training will be provided by an experienced Applications Designer with a training plan to understand Husky’s activities, Husky’s products and the team’s mandates. The training period may include to travel to the Luxembourgish office.

After the training period, the Applications Designer will start by executional work to gain on knowledge and experience, and depending on the willingness to evolve, there is the possibility to include more decisional work.

Job Responsibilities：

 

• Provides plastic preform and plastic thread model and drawing,
• Identifies and confirms the project feasibility and potential associated risks,
• Provides performance commitments to support business growth,
• Analyzes technical details of each inquiry to ensure an application is feasible and deviations from guidelines are manageable. Corresponding mitigation plan and / or recommendations are highlighted as part of the feedback provided in the inquiry.

 

Job Qualifications

Education:

• Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent,
• Plastics processing knowledge is an asset.

Related Experience

• 3-5 years related experience, preferred in the design of injection tooling,
• Fresh graduates are welcome too,
• Experience in risk assessment considered as an asset.

Technical/Professional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

• Proficient in mechanical design, part functions and resulting dimensioning and tolerancing,
• Proficient with CAD – Can draft new design from scratch,
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Strong analytical and problem solving skills,
• Good understanding of PET processing conditions and performance boundaries (dimensioning, visual defects, …),
• Effective communication/interpersonal skills and ability to professionally interact with others,
• Good English and communication skills due to international environment and contacts in daily job management,
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team,
• Demonstrate sound judgment to make independent decisions,
• Excellent organizational skills,
• Demonstrates active management style.
