职位描述
The Vibro-Acoustic Engineer will be a member of the global team responsible for Garrett’s differentiation related to noise & vibration for both existing and new products. This engineer will partner with internal and external customers to ensure flawless launches without noise issues at our customers.
Responsibilities of the position:
? A member of the global (EU, North America, China & India) team of vibro-acoustic (VA) Engineers which provide support to all global customers as well as drive the science tool projects in vibro-acoustics field.
? Primarily, provide application NVH support within China, and provide support to global applications as needed.
? Travel to customer sites, 40-50% of total time, to conduct NVH testing and discussions with customer.
? Develop new analytical and test methodologies for NVH for turbo products, from component to vehicle level.
? Identify root causes of noise related issues and drive corrective actions to systematically address them.
? Interface with OEM NVH experts for risk assessment, validation plan definition, and issue resolution.
? Partner with application engineers to provide differentiated support towards NVH – reactive when needed, but driving to proactive.
? Share best practices within the global NVH team.
? Train other parts of Garrett org in turbo NVH (other COEs, manufacturing, application engineers, etc.)
Key success Factors:
? Making Garrett a leader in NVH field, differentiating us from our competitors.
? Launch new products that are quiet and manufacturable.
? Develop methodologies to identify noise sources and consolidate lessons learned.
? Rapid resolution of turbocharger noise complaints at the customer.
? Identify kaizen or productivity opportunities for the VA and partnering teams.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering. Graduate Degree in Mechanics, or Acoustics & Vibrations (NVH) preferred.
? 2 years automotive product development experience (turbocharger or turbomachinery preferred).
? Understanding of key noise sources and fundamentals of noise and vibration transmission.
? Direct NVH testing experience, FEA and/or SEA modeling experience, or rotordynamics experience preferred.
Skills:
? Able to work independently, including as technical lead for complex projects.
? Strong analytical capability and hands-on experimental/testing experience.
? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to drive internal process improvements across the org as well as influence customers’ mindset and approach to NVH system solutions.
? Customer management and negotiation skills.
? Effectively manage and execute multiple tasks simultaneously while taking direction from several sources.
? Synthesis skills (identify an issue and link it to full system behavior).
? Proficient in using vibro-acoustic tools. LMS software preferred.
? Knowledge in vibro-acoustic simulation (FEA, CAA or SEA) is a plus.
? High energy level with constant drive toward continuous improvement.
? Practical and analytical skills with the ability to conduct measurement campaigns, use prediction tools, and build methodologies.
? A strong willingness to learn.
