As BRCM Manager, this role will report to Head of BRCM and be mainly tasked on:

 

• Maintain BRCM owned policies and procedures that ensure that China Insurance operational risk is managed in a commercially sensitive and practical manner.
• Coordinate to carry out the Risk and Control Assessment (RCA) exercise triggered by key events or issues, or according to group initiative timeline;
• Lead to perform the back testing to identify potential issue and control weakness;
• Assist to provide guide and oversight the implementation of ORMF in INSH, including, control testing (including control monitoring, local testing and etc.); internal event escalation and reporting; issue and action tracking; high risk action validation and etc.
• Maintain company level BCM framework and Shanghai Home office BCP.
• Lead insurance fraud risk management related matters, including executing regulator projects, coordinating in actual/potential external fraud case investigation and etc.
• Assist Head of BRCM in prepare and report BRCM Management Information (e.g. RCA status, control monitoring results and etc.) to local and global committees and forums.
• Other ad-hoc tasks assigned by Head of BRCM and Chief Control Officer.

 In addition, this role will:

• Reports directly to Head of BRCM
• Functional control is maintained over BRCM in China for managing the first line of defence on operational risk and control.
• Works with the relevant Group/Local members or functions to ensure risk are well managed and controlled.

 

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Educated to undergraduate or post-graduate degree level in Accountancy, Finance, Risk Management or related field.
• Proven experience of the workings of Operational Risk Management, or Internal Audit preferable with life insurance and related financial industry (+10 years) or consulting firms (+7 years).
• Good understanding and knowledge of Operational Risk and Internal Control principles and ability to assess risk trends.
• Good knowledge and understanding of operations and technology risks and the ability to interpret operations and technology risk findings.
• An expert and extensive level of operational risk knowledge in order to be able to face off appropriately to the different risk managers in China and to external parties.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with strong ability to drive operational risk within the first line of defence and obtain appropriate management buy-in.
• Experience of implementing control frameworks within complex environments.
• Attention to detail combined with strong delivery focus and ability to meet aggressive timeframes with quality results.
• Working across cultures.
