Senior Technologist (Garment)

Description:

• Provide support to merchants in reviews.
• Assess development samples regarding fit, construction & workmanship. Review sample comments of retail markets'technical team and ensure that all is clear and practicable before forwarding to suppliers for sample revision.
• Pre-screen fit, sealing and resubmission samples to make sure construction, safety (risk pre assessment), measurement, fit balance, workmanship and changes requested by retail markets are met. For non-conforming samples, ensure that defects are clearly communicated to suppliers so they can fix problems promptly and properly.
• Visit factories and work with suppliers, pattern makers and production team to resolve issues, as required, to reduce/eliminate the need for re-submissions. Keep accurate records of submissions, results, actions and resolutions.
• Build strong relationship with retail markets'tech team and understand how they work, keep updated re new fit initiatives, requirement and policies and guide GS suppliers in effective sampling.
• Communicate issues and solutions direct with sourcing, merchants and factories.
• Orientate new suppliers on Wal-Mart requirement and technical manual.
• Supervise the technologists. Use records of submissions and results to identify training needs of team and set goals for ongoing improvement.
• Manage and balance work load of technologists and arrange cross training to improve knowledge and skills.

Requirement:

• Technical expertise in area of product responsibility.
• Ability to learn new technologies to broaden capability and product knowledge.
• Practical knowledge of garment fabric characteristics and ability to provide sound advice on construction, fitting, measurement, workmanship and performance.
• Familiar with test lab standards and requirements re garment construction. Able to give guidance to factories for correct interpretation and corrective actions.
• Analytical and problem solving ability.
• High integrity and business ethics.
• Good communication skills.
• Good spoken and written English as well as local language.
• Able to manage multiple tasks/projects.
• Education University - 4-year degree/Bachelors Business, Production, Engineering. Experience 5 - 7 years.
