• Manage personnel to meet overall department objectives.
• Define, plan and coordinate the activities of an Engineering group, outside of day-to-day responsibilities, to meet both short and long term goals as dictated by Director level personnel.
• Write and maintain work instructions for the department.
• Meets with customers and company sales personnel and representatives both in-house and on site to assess unique applications requiring special design consideration.
• Interface with customers and vendors to meet customer demand, and assist in sourcing new vendors as needed.
• Plan and define continuing education requirements in anticipation of future technologies.
• Develop and support the team to ensure we maintain a technical competitive advantage.
• Provides technicial assistance to the Sales, Product Development, Materials, Production, Quality, and Service departments to resolve issues and develop product improvements.
• Ensure a smooth development of new products.
• Establish and maintain effective communication between Laird and our customers, so we may readily respond to market changes and/or customer demands.
• Lead the development and design of new products using innovative ideas to grow product portfolio.
• Adheres to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards.
• Other duties may be assigned as reasonably directed by management.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proficiency in computer skills including Windows, AutoCAD, and company proprietary software.
• Ability to use Word, Excel, and PCAD. Ability to operate EPROM programmer.
• Ability to interpret schematic drawings and ladder logic diagrams.
• Ability to manage time to meet deadlines and schedule the work flow of others.
• Good interpersonal skills and supervisory ability.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written
• Strong Troubleshooting Skills
• Project Management Proven Skills – Multi Site/Global
• Attention to detail

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

·         Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from a four year college or university,

·         Minimum of eight years related work experience preferably in radio frequency and microprocessor based equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·         3+ years supervisory experience
