Responsibilities:

This role involves leading the laser applications laboratory efforts at Coherent’s China. The position is key to setting the direction and priorities of the lab in close cooperation with marketing and sales. It includes responsibility for organizing and maintaining the applications lab database, and covers a wide variety of laser applications and technologies including CW, Q-switched and mode-locked lasers.

The successful candidate should have extensive laser applications knowledge, especially using high power fiber lasers for industrial applications.

? Understand, prioritize and assign applications requests, R&D work and Internal apps development

? Organize, set direction and priority for applications staff.

? Work with Marketing to identify and assign strategic applications

? Work with Sales to identify strategic customers and applications

? Work with BU marketing/engineering to schedule, perform applications development work and reporting

? Manage Field Applications Engineers

? Develop materials and assist in training others for Apps/Field apps

? Find and develop tools needed for entry into target applications (subsystem, optical development)

? Report to management/marketing/BU on activities, applications and trends

? Coordinate with other Coherent applications labs

? Perform Apps work, field apps, customer/sales visits to promote applications and develop business.

Requirements:

? BSc and > 7 years experience working with laser processing applications.

? Experience integrating lasers into systems

? Experience in optical systems design and set up

? Programming knowledge in G-code or similar

? Knowledgeable in integration of scanners or mechanical stages and controllers into micromachining systems

? Good presentation and writing skills

? High degree of comfort in front of customers and potential customers is essential.

? Skills to work cross- functionally with the ability to motivate and inspire others to perform at their best.

? Experience interacting with large capital equipment manufacturers in the microelectronics space, particularly in Asia, is a definite advantage.
