The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for a HR manager position for Japan, within Human Resources (HR). Our HR organization is in the process of transforming to a leading-edge operating model. This role would be located within the “APAC HR Solutions” arm of this operating model. The HR Solutions organization will be responsible for the design and delivery of innovative solutions to all employees and leaders. HR Solutions roles will contain deep subject-matter expertise in order to consult on programs, processes and people. The top priority of HR Solutions is to deliver the best Employee Experience through exceptional delivery of a portfolio of solutions.

Accountabilities:
- Review Japan’s compensation & benefit strategy and plan designs, ensuring alignment with business strategy under global governance
- Accountable for Japan market measurement, design and communicate updates of responsible countries’ compensation and benefits programs
according to market trend - Annual salary increase budgets proposal and set up for Japan
- Manages and trains junior HR representatives
- Ensure Japan country level compliance with compensation and benefits plans’ change approval and legislative alerts processes
- Management of bonus and other compensation & benefits tools for Japan, responding to business changing needs, e.g. proposal of special retention programs catering for local country needs
- Manage external vendors for Japan compensation, benefits and recruiting, review work instructions and processes to continuously improve efficiency
- Provide consultation for compensation, benefits, recruiting and workforce administration related questions from clients
- Understanding hiring needs of hiring managers and meeting those expectations during the recruiting process. Provide a selection of pre-screened and interviewed candidates to the hiring managers with diverse sourcing channels/strategies
- Act as key contact between Dow Talent Acquisition, hiring managers, Joint Venture HR supports and applicants
- Take the lead in this sourcing process and proactively provide solution and approach to select specific candidates
- Provide information to hiring managers as well as HR partners on the status of applicants/interviews
- Ensure both Work Day and non-Work Day enabled flawless execution and problem solving of Talent Acquisition activities
- Coordinate with Japan HR Partners and work like a hub with ASPAC HR solution team to execute the employee life-cycle administration
- Give coaching to the Workforce Administration reps for Japan practices
- Be the owner of process for assigned HR projects if any
- A minimum of 5 years’ work experiences in HR generalist, or Compensation & Benefits, or recruiting or related field
- Strong analytical capability on total compensation and benefits elements.
- Strong proactive planning, organizational and problem solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Established credibility and trust through other successful job experiences within C & B
- Positive attitude and works equally well as part of a team or without supervision
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work with a sense of urgency in a highly dynamic environment
- Strong communication skills and adaptability to meet different countries clients’ requirement with diverse country culture
- Fluent in Mandarin, English, and Japanese (both written and spoken);
- Bachelor’s degree or above
- Strong negotiation and sales skills
- Desire to work in a fast paced, high caliber environment
- Ability to effectively work through other people and be collaborative, cross-functional and diplomatic
- Knowledge of and experience with HR technologies
- Experience in a complex organization or consulting role
