Calm Island is looking for a product owner to join the growing team in our Shanghai office. We are an education company making books, apps, songs, and videos to be used at home and in schools all over China and around the world. This role will focus on the creation and localization of educational apps and games, and reports to the Instructional Design Director. 

    

Most importantly, you will…

Be the proactive link between the education team and the technical team for product development

Support and drive development of products that support the long-term aims of the Education department

Work closely with the department director or product manager to define detailed requirements from a high-level product vision

Maintain project backlogs and prioritize them strategically to meet stakeholder requirements

Consult with our in-house education experts to ensure our products are educationally sound and meet the needs of teachers, students, and parents

Work closely with our UX, market, and usability researchers to inform your decision making

                            

Requirements

BA or MA in a related field (UX, Computer Science, Product Development)

Fluent in English and Chinese

Strong written and oral communication skills in both languages

Familiar with Scrum methodology

Confident advocating for user centered design and applying UX principles

Desire and ability to understand key education principles to guide your daily work

Able to work in cross-functional teams, and strategically leverage their expertise

Experience with education products preferred, especially content management and learning management systems
