Job description

To ensure the company always meets the highest requirements of customs authorities in China, Atlas Copco is hiring an experienced customs officer. The selected candidate will join our dynamic and diverse organization with many fascinating opportunities to learn and develop. It will be your primary role to coordinate actions in our operating entities in China to establish conformity with continuously evolving customs requirements and regulations. Together with the different product companies (factories), customer centres (trading companies) and the distribution centre, you will conduct an in-depth fit/gap analysis and draw up a joint action plan to closely monitor the implementation of the improvements. The scope of actions may vary from master data, operations procedures, systems support and competence development.

Furthermore, your extensive professional network is crucial to keep an active and close connection with the business partners in the total supply chain, especially with customs bureaus and operators while strictly adhering to the internal business code of practice at all times. This will happen in an international context, where you will have frequent interaction with peers in Europe and USA. 

The customs officer will be hosted in the regional distribution centre in Shanghai, the heart of our logistics operations. However, this role will also support and coordinate actions with other entities of the Atlas Copco Group in mainland China that import and/or export cargo. Therefore, occasional travel is expected. Furthermore, close coordination with Holding departments is important to deal with duty and tax related requirements, and to pro-actively set up rules and controls to be compliant and efficient. This position initially reports to the General Manager of the regional distribution centre (RDC).

Experience and knowledge requirements

The candidate should have substantial experience in the field of import and export customs clearance, with a strong professional network with the related authorities. You are well familiar with the latest China customs rules, organizations and operations.

 

Skills

Mastering Chinese is a prerequisite, while you are also fluent in English writing, speaking and listening. The ideal candidate has great interpersonal skills and has an analytical mindset.

 

Educational requirements

The successful candidate has a bachelor or higher degree in customs orientation, or an equivalent qualification through a combination of education and professional experience.

The Asia-Pacific Regional Distribution Centre in Shanghai is a fast growing organization with 80 employees, serving several divisions of the Compressor Technique, Industrial Technique and Power Technique Business Areas. With the recent development into a regional hub for spare parts, our organization delivers over 30,000 customer order lines a month throughout China and Asia-Pacific for 10 different brands within the Atlas Copco Group. The main operational activities are: warehousing, inventory planning and shipping, supported by strong purchasing, finance, IT, SHEQ and HR departments.
