Role Scope
The successful individual will be responsible for providing legal services to APAC entities, and primary support for our businesses in Greater China. The Regional Counsel Greater China will join the China leadership team and as a strategic business partner for management in the region and other members of the Law Department in APAC, EMEA, and the Americas.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced corporate generalist with experience with commercial contracts, employment law matters, corporate governance, compliance, and risk mitigation. The candidate should also have a background relevant to U.S. multi-national companies, including experience with channel and distribution and anti-corruption laws and regulations. Prior experience with the legal issues faced by multi-nationals operating within Greater China is preferred.
Primary Accountabilities
- Business Enabler. Anticipate legal support needs of the business and help define and drive the strategic plans of the region
- General Legal Advice. Provide legal advice and review to business operations in the region including, but not limited to: contractual matters; joint ventures and strategic business relationships; acquisitions and divestitures; employment matters; leasing and property matters; and liability claims
- Compliance. Develop and monitor legal compliance by entities within the region with Brand’s policies and procedures, as well as laws and regulations affecting our business operations. Manage legal risk management and legal compliance programs
- External Counsel. Manage and optimize use of external counsel
- Corporate Secretarial. Manage corporate secretarial matters for all legal entities within the region; ensure compliance with local statutory requirements and internal policy and controls
- Process Improvement. Drive the continuous improvement of legal processes and functions
- Training. Develop and provide legal training to entities in the territory for contracts, anti-trust compliance, improper payments, etc.
- Audits and Investigations. Participate and/or lead audits and investigations as required
- Reporting. Report on status of matters periodically. Proactively keep APAC General Counsel and regional management team informed of developments of matters and cases

Skills / Personal attributes Requirement
- 4-8 years of post-qualified experience with a top law firm and multi-national company in the region
- LLB, JD, or comparable law degree with strong academic record
- Qualified to practice law in PRC, Hong Kong, or Taiwan
- Ideally has also done further studies in US, UK or other common law country
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Mandarin
- Demonstrated superior collaboration and relationship building skills
- Ability to offer sound legal advice
