Objective of Position:

· Develop, define and implement the Development strategy for Greater China.

· Direct the development activities for Greater China to drive Innovation in crop and non-crop solution and define strategies to improve Performance and Speed

· To lead the Development team in Greater China for various biotechnology projects and lead product innovation to support Sales and Marketing teams for new product launches, product positioning and use crop packages and technical literatures and complaint handling

· Management of Mini-farm to lead new AI testing and work closely with regional team to define strategy of new product development and manage budget

Responsibility:

Develop and Implement Strategy:

· Lead a team to identify, test and analyse agronomic studies/trials on product and crop that support marketing objectives including the definition of key milestones, KPIs and processes to measure progress.

· Direct and promote new Development opportunities working closely with sales and marketing team to uncover new business opportunity that incorporate customer needs, new development trend in the market.

· To liaise closely with BASF Germany and Regional office in Singapore to understand :

· Global / regional strategies on new product development and implementing them in Greater China

· Deliver technical market insight to the regional and global PD function to ensure adoption of new technology with fit with local market

· Develop systems to ensure innovation is a fundamental driver at all levels in R&D in APA by promoting idea development and proof of concept trailing.

· Understand the BASF and competitor portfolio to identify opportunities to apply technology in service of customer needs

· Lead AgCelence development and Top Sciencia project in close co-ordination with local universities and APA regional platform and represent BASF in Crop Life.

Operation role:

? Define key projects and targets for APA R&D and ensure adequate resources, both budget and manpower, are available to achieve these targets.

? Provide steering and guidance to ensure that country development activities are in line with the APA strategy.

? Co-ordinate with Market Development team for identification of Key Value Propositions of Registered New Products through Demos and ensure support from the Technical team

? Extend support to sales team in techno-commercial activities such as campaigns, handing farmer complaints, Product launches, big farmer meetings

? Manage customer complaint and develop SOP and team competency to ensure seamless process

Management Responsibility:

? Work as a member of the China management team to drive to the success of the organisation

? Develop technical training/ crop education program in coordination with regional APA development team to improve internal team capability.

· Ensure the technical supporting materials (technical profile, technical recommendations, application guidance and training materials, trails reports, etc) to be delivered to support sales and marketing objective.

· Optimize the process and ensure the PD related system submission on time

· Develop systems to ensure innovation is a fundamental driver at all levels in R&D in APA by promoting idea development and proof of concept trialing.and crop.

People and function management:

· Build, organize and develop a strong, ambitious and self-sustaining team in line with business strategy

· Plan and control the function structure and manpower requirements, headcount and budget, establish development measures and appraise the performance of the team.

· Direct and prioritise the workload of team members.

· Train and coach the direct reports and develop the succession planning.

Requirement:

· Master/ PhD degree, Agriculture-related and/or Biological Science

· At least 10 years working experience in agriculture research and development function.

· Strong technical knowledge and experience in :

· Biological field trial implementation

· Fungicide, Herbicide and Insecticide biology.

· Agricultural production and cropping systems

· Strong Project Management skill with good statistical design and analysis

· Excellent in communication and interpersonal understanding

· Fluent in English language, both oral and written is a must
