Objective:
Coatings Formulation Team Leader/Senior Manager of 2~3 technical professional staff:
- Formulation expert recognized internally and externally for Industrial or Automotive Coatings
- Drives Coatings Formulation competency buildup in BASF Greater China and ensures know-how exchange and collaboration within the ED's global Formulation Community
- Leads the Coatings Formulation Team Greater China and develops optimized formulation solutions that offer best-in-class coating performance using advantageous synergies within BASF's broad portfolio of raw materials (RMs) and the best and latest technical trends/ingredients in coatings technology
- Builds a network of centers of expertise inside and outside of BASF on formulation and analytical capabilities
- Advises technical service on printing and coating raw materials synergies
- Trains ED personnel as well as selected customers
- Actively presents information on interactions of raw materials and synergistic chemistries at trade organizations and conferences
- Helps strengthen relationships to key customers via customer seminars/workshops and visits in collaboration with TS personnel

Main Tasks:
(1) Recognized Scientific Expert (internal / external):
- Represents BASF in internal and external formulation communities, symposia and conferences; Actively presents information on interactions of raw materials and synergistic chemistries at symposia, conferences and industrial organizations
- Leads the internal process to enhance BASF formulation competencies, synergies and broad portfolio of products in Asia-Pacific
- represents ED Greater China and Asia-Pacific within the BASF ED global Formulation Community
- Builds a network of centers of expertise inside and outside of BASF on formulation and analytical capabilities

(2) Partner of Coatings Business Teams for Providing Formulation Solutions
- Leads the Coatings Formulation Team Greater China and develops optimized formulation solutions that offer best-in-class coating performance using advantageous synergies within BASF's broad portfolio of raw materials (RMs) and the best and latest technical trends/ingredients in coatings technology
- Advises technical service on coating raw materials synergies
- Trains ED personnel as well as selected customers
- Helps strengthen relationships to key customers via customer seminars/workshops and visits in collaboration with TS personnel

(3) Coatings Formulation Team Leadership:
- Organizes and supervises roles, responsibilities and work routines within the Formulation Team
- Instructs and coaches the Coatings Formulation Team
- Directs and provides required training for the work of one or more technical professional staff and supervises visiting students or scientists on temporary assignments
- implements and ensures compliance with BASF standards regarding EHS in the lab team activities
- Helps others and the organization to be successful

(4) Collaboration with Key Customers and with ED's Global Formulation Community
- Helps strengthen relationships to key customers via customer seminars/workshops
- establishes and coordinates Coatings Formulation community within ED's Greater China in industrial and automotive coatings
- ensures information and know-how exchange and collaboration within ED's global Formulation Service Institutes in Europe, NAFTA and Asia Pacific.


Qualification and Experience
- PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (preferably polymer related)
- at least 12 years experience of conducting scientific experiments in chemical labs (including study period)
- in-depth experience in 2 or more different scientific or technical fields
- at least 5 years industrial experience in industrial coatings or automotive coatings
- fluent English (reading, writing and presenting)
