Job Description:                 

StubHub (an eBay company) is looking for an experienced Manager of Site Reliability Engineering to manage a team of engineers responsible for minimizing downtime of the StubHub site and build operations and platform automation.

 

Responsibilities:

• Manage Shanghai Site Reliability and Architecture/Governance team.
• Manage team of 14 direct report, including interns and AWFs, coordinating with operations teams in San Francisco.
• Manage outage incidents, recovering normal site operation as quickly as possible, and developing root cause analysis to drive corrective actions for preventing similar incidents.
• Manage site operation processes and production release processes.
• Manage architecture governance team member responsible for providing subject matter expertise on operational best practices for applications delivered by engineering.
• Lead operations automation projects that improve uptime and self-service operation of the deployment platform.

 

Qualities we are seeking:

• Hands on manager with deep experience running large public site operations, familiar with monitoring and fault analysis tools and operating continuously improving operations processes.
• Credible technical background in Java and JavaScript stacks who can interact well with engineers and their managers.
• Strong written and oral communications skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to people of varying levels of technical knowledge.
• Strong organizational skills – the ability to prioritize and manage multiple work streams.
• Willingness to get one’s hands dirty and deal with some of the less glamorous aspects of site reliability - root cause analysis, release management.

Skills and Experience:

• Three to five years’ experience as a manager solving production site problems for large public web sites.
• Experience responding to site incidents on large public web sites.
• Experience with a variety of monitoring and debugging tools for Java, JavaScript, Node and database code.
• Experience managing technical teams responsible for operations and automation development.
