As a data platform engineer, you will work with product owner and internal customers to design and build company’s new data platform within Google Cloud Platform - GCP. You must be able to innovate and work with PO/customers to come up with feature design and execute well to deliver features on time against milestones. You should be very passionate on your work, be active in team activities and always have a positive attitude.

 

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customer and product owner to understand requirements
• Design and build Stubhub data platform within GCP
• Makes appropriate design and architecture trade-offs for a feature
• Ensure code quality, has code reviews with other developers to surface design and implementation issues
• Identifies risks and dependencies in the schedule for a feature
• Writes unit test and fully leverages the automatable system for a feature
• Accounts for the performance, operation and serviceability of the feature
• Ensures customer and partner quality resolutions, solves customer/partner problems in a timely manner
• Learning cutting-edge technologies, and evaluate if our system can benefit from it. Innovative attitude is very welcome during our daily work.

 

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, Python, JavaScript, or Go. Java is a must.
• You should possess a strong technical background and a good grasp of software engineering principles.

• Experience working with two or more from the following: web application development, Unix/Linux environments, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, networking, developing large software systems, and/or security software development.

• Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English.
• Proven track record of working well with internal customer, exceptional problem solving, design, and programming skills.
• The ability to work well in a team environment is very important
• Passion and energy are as important as your technical skills.

 

Additional Qualifications For This Position Include

• Familiar with big data technologies, like Hadoop, HBase, Spark etc, have real project experience
• Familiar with popular messaging systems, like rabbitmq, kafka, pub/sub etc, have real project experience

• Experience in streaming and batch data processing is a big plus.

• Experience in developing software within public cloud is a big plus.
• Experience in developing machine learning products is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated experience driving for results in a cross-group/team project
• Ability to quickly understand new technology and applications
• Passion for shipping a high-quality software systems and services
• Experiences in large scale online services engineering and operation or mobile software development a strong plus
• A BS/MS/Ph.D degree in Computer Science or related field
