Job Title: Corporate Counsel-APAC (Employment)

Synopsys is looking for an experienced employment lawyer to join our global employment law team primarily supporting China, and secondarily supporting Synopsys’ offices in the Asia Pacific region (APAC).

The position will be based in our offices in Shanghai, China and will advise on matters related to an employee population currently spread across 10 countries.

The candidate will be expected to have a solid background in employment law application and counseling, and possess strong investigation skills gained through practical experience.

Responsibilities：

The Corporate Counsel will be part of a highly sophisticated worldwide employment law team and will advise and counsel on all legal issues related to APAC employment, including recruiting, hiring, the contingent workforce, compensation, employment agreements, leaves of absence, employee mobility (non-solicits and non-competes), performance management, working time, holiday pay, mergers and acquisitions, discrimination and harassment, trade secret theft, terminations and redundancies.

The Corporate Counsel will frequently liaise with and manage outside counsel, and will contribute to global employment initiatives and projects. The Corporate Counsel will also work closely with our litigation team and will be responsible for managing and/or assisting with investigations, with a focus on trade secret protection and data security.

This position may also work with the Ethics & Compliance team on investigations regarding anticorruption, side agreements and other compliance-related matters. Occasional travel to Synopsys sites mostly within APAC and at least once annually to Synopsys’ Headquarters in the U.S. (California) is expected.

Requirements：

We are looking for: An attorney in good standing, licensed to practice in at least one jurisdiction, preferably the PRC 4-7 years of relevant experience Fluent English and Mandarin language, written and oral Solid knowledge and experience with China employment law Investigation experience Understanding of computer forensics An ability to collaborate with colleagues and take a business-oriented approach while identifying and balancing legal risks Exceptional analytical skills, independent judgment, a desire to learn, and an ability to take on and prioritize a wide variety of complex matters Prior experience working at a top-rated law firm or in-house at a multinational company, and litigation experience, is a plus.
