Job Description

AMJ Bio is seeking for highly motivated senior chemist for a position in our R&D facility located in Pudong Shanghai. The primary focus on the role will be to support the internal chemistry R&D needs. The successful candidate will be joining a group of innovative individuals with multidisciplinary backgrounds ranging from synthetic chemistry, enzyme biochemistry, fermentation technologies to bioprocess engineering. A bachelor or master degree with industrial R&D experience in synthetic organic chemistry with a demonstrated ability in innovative problem-solving skills is expected.

Primary Responsibilities:

1) Perform all aspects of bench organic synthetic chemistry including the preparation and use of starting materials, reagents and solvents

2) Perform separation and purification techniques including distillation, crystallization, liquid-liquid extraction, column chromatography, analytical and preparative TLC, electrophoresis etc.

3) Able to propose multi-steps synthetic routes and mechanistic hypotheses to target molecules

4) Hands-on experience with analytical instruments to characterize chemicals, including GC, HPLC, IR, UV, GPC and NMR

5) Generate SOPs, experiment reports, and use their knowledge of chemistry to promote a safe work environment.

6) Maintain a clear, detailed, and up-to-date records of research in a notebook

7) Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

? Degree in Chemistry or related discipline with Master plus 5 years, or PhD plus 2 years of relevant industry experience

? A good understanding of chemistry and chemical engineering

? Demonstrated practical ability to design, execute and characterize chemical syntheses

? Prior polymer chemistry research experience is preferred

? Energetic, self-motivated with the ability to work independently and effectively in a multidisciplinary environment

? Excellent written and verbal communication skills

? Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task

? Meet deliverables within specifications and timelines

? Carry out job responsibilities and assignments safely and maintain a clean and safe work area
