JOB TITLE Mechanical Design Engineer

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The jobholder is responsible for carrying out mechanical engineering tasks in the area of sustaining engineering, customisation, cost down and supplier management for electro-mechanical cash-handling products.
The team is in particular responsible to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change Management in cooperation with Manufacturing Engineering. Also expected is a close collaboration with Talaris Engineering sites in Europe as well with as other operational functions, in particular Purchasing and Quality. Overall aim is to support a seamless supply of Talaris products and a continuous improvement of product cost, functionality and quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execution of tasks related to
Implementation of changes solving component obsolescence issues and in value engineering - aiming to maintain and continuously improve TCR products within existing specifications
Implementation of selected product customisation requests assigned to the China team - extending the product specification
Support for New Product Introduction (NPI, design adaptation for manufacturability, change control, fault analysis) in cooperation with Manufacturing Engineering
Engineering change management and product design data version control including mechanical product documentation (Pro/E and PDMLink)
Supplier selection and supplier quality control
- Support implementation of engineering changes in manufacturing (consultation, analysis)
- Review of manufacturing, quality and product conformance issues as well as test results
- Constant improvement of mechanical skills and know-how

PERSON SPECIFICATION AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
- Graduated in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree
- Advanced knowledge of CAD tools, preferably Pro Engineer
- Preferably at least one year working experience in western country (e.g. Europe, US, Canada, Australia), degree from western university or equivalent experience
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Strong track record on carrying out design tasks in complex, international mechatronics development projects
- Experienced in international working environment and familiar with local manufacturing and supply chain requirements

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
- At least three years working experience, at least one year in mechanical design

- Ability to analyse and understand complex mechatronical system designs
- Result orientated, hands on, gets things done, flexible and pro-active style
